Scam?

Put my car on Gumtree for sale and within an hour i have someone asking if they can collect it tomorrow for close to the asking price. No asking to view, no questions.
Something about it just doesn't seem right and need some other peoples thoughts!

well they are coming to view it tomorrow
how did you think it would work?
most likely they don't have the asking price, so want to know if they can actualy get the car.
  • No, they aren't coming to view it, they want to come and collect it tomorrow!
Thats what is making me dubious, no viewing, no questions.

obviously you will have to wait before any cheques /bankers daft has cleared , unless they hand over cash i wouldn't let them leave with the car

If you are concerned (and it sounds as if you might have reason to be) only accept cash or a banker's draft before parting with the car and documents.
  • You should only worry when they start offering to send more than the asking price by western union - then asking you to send the diffrerence back in cash.

Until then it's not like they're gonna slyly pocket the car when they com to view it.

i look at it that they are trying to get you to tell other callers its sold
then when these people turn up they will try to barter you down further
i have a motto that i use and stick to

nothings sold till you have the cash

tell anyone who phones yes its still available you owe nothing to these chancers who contaccted you early

of course your vehicle might be desirable underpriced
    what is it

Well, a 7 year old Picanto isn't worth much anyway, so you're really not going to lose a great deal even if it is a scam.

It's worth a bit actually as low mileage and good condition and like most people at the moment i really can't afford to flush over a grand down the loo!
