Although you were correct in saying that you had no obligation to contact HP, if you had done this you may well have had the laptop returned to you quicker.
HP would have collected it from you, and when repaired would have delivered it back to your house.
Now they have to collect it from Comet and when it's fixed, wil return it back to the store.
The Comet staff will then (hopefully) call you the same day or maybe the next day, and you will have to go and collect it.
I can see what you are saying. Either way I wouldn't have got a courier to me until next week anyway, so no different than letting Comet do it. The store manager also said I can ring at anytime to check on progress.
As long as all the problems are fixed I'll be happy. No, the 6 month rule is completely different. It refers to the burden of proof, for example, within the first 6 months it is the retailers responsibility to prove a fault is not inherent. After 6 month, the burden is on the consumer to prove the fault is inherent.
Ah ok I see now, thanks for clearing that up for me.After that the retailer can effectively choose the more cost effective remedy. If they fail to do so within 'reasonable' time, you can then reject goods.
So does this mean if the store fail to send it off within a reasonable time or does it mean if it isn't repaired within a 'reasonable' time?0 -

Repaired otherwise you'd also have a cause for arguing it is causing significant inconvenience0
