I`m the OP and the reason I started this thread is because I find that the majority of ppl don`t say thank you. I do however find that out in the country ppl are more likely to say thank you, in a town or city it`s less likely

I also find that the worst offenders are middle aged women. I`ve now changed my driving style when I`m in towns and cities, I ignore everybody and never let ppl out of junctions etc. If you did as many miles as me a year (52,000) you may change your mind. I also think the ppl who read this thread and did`nt reply are guilty!

Anybody here from Birmingham? I hate it when I`m working in Bham, never seen drivers like it in my life. By far the worst drivers I`ve ever seen anywhere

I always mouth thanks and raise my hand to show my gratitude, plenty of people (and that's both genders, young and old!) don't bother around my way!
Just this morning I was driving down my road which always has cars parked on both sides so only one car can fit down the road. I was halfway down the road with cars on either side when a BMW (sorry but it was) with a middle aged man came whizzing down the road, he had to stop for me as I had nowhere to pull in, I raised my hand to thank him and got the t0sser sign back - charming!! :rotfl:

Yes, but you have to realise that BMW drivers have to do a special course in arrogance and contempt for other road users before they are allowed to buy one. Also, BMW's for some reason are not fitted with indicators.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Everyone seems pretty polite where I live and it seems to be the minority who don't say thanks, but many of our streets are slaloms between parked cars that can only be negotiated in single file. Must be the sea air.

I lived in Brum for a few years and yeah the driving style is 'unique', I have to re-adapt myself every time I go back. :rotfl:

    Yes.

However the ones who just pull out onto my side of the road, expecting me to yield, will be punished if I can think of a way of doing so. Or beeped if not.

It might be even more interesting if the other driver was the same gender!

You blow-kiss other men when they've given you the winker sign for something that's their fault :D always winds them up further.
