NICS Executive Officer II (EOII) Recruitment Competition 2011/12

Options
Hi, just wondering if anybody else has passed the NICS interview for the EOII competition and is waiting for word. Anybody have any information regarding if/when successful applicants will be placed etc?

I passed the interview and have undergone pre-appointment checks so I'm just waiting to see whether I'll be placed or not :p

A few people I work with have got dates for starting their positions already, but they are already working in NICS,I don't know how they organise these things so hopefully shouldn't be too long

One person I work with starts his EO2 position on Monday in the same office and 2 more new EO2's are joining us on Monday too.
  • Do you mind me asking Chris, where were you placed on the order of merit, I to am hopeful of a placement but I was not placed high enough for pre appointment checks to be started.

Hopefully hear word soon, the life of the competition is supposed to be 2 years, I would like to think that in that time I would be placed, I just hope I am not waiting too long.

    Good Luck
  • I'm placed in the early 200s. I've been told that pre-appointment checks have been carried out on everybody up to 216 on the merit list, due to the number of demands received from various departments. The person I was talking to seemed keen to stress the fact that this doesn't necessarily mean a job offer would be forthcoming, though. Last time I'd heard, they'd reached 117 on the merit list in terms of actual placements so, if an offer does come, it'll probably take an age for it to arrive. Hoping that's not the case though!
  • I was placed less than No 117 on merit list and while Pre-employment checks underway I have not been told of any offer. I am not currently employed by NICS

Our 4th new EO2 is due to start Monday week.

Its an absolute joke since the number of EO2's now equal the number of AO's.

    Good management for sure there:money:

  • CuriousCatt,

I've spoken via e-mail with people from HRconnect, and have viewed FOI requests which all state that 117 positions are to be filled thus far. So I think in your case it'll just take a while coming through.

I'm much more doubtful about prospects for people like myself though. NICS have been very careful to make sure they don't give any information about an actual job offer, which is annoying. Why have a merit list of 483 people, why carry out pre-appointment checks on the top 216, when only 117 jobs are available. A wee bit aggrieved  lol.

Starting to get skeptical about the actual purpose of the competition to begin with. There are loads of AOs who are on a higher basic salary than EOIIs (quite how that situation managed to arise is beyond me), and a good few acting as temporary EOIIs aswell. Call me cynical, but it would be terribly handy for NICS to promote the high-earning AOs into EOII positions to help the pay problem go away.
