  • Thanks so much for the responses. LizD I did look for a specific thread on Jamie at home but only found a really old one before it was launched and everyone was just saying how bad it sounded!! I can't find anything more recent.

The main reason I was leaning towards Jamie at Home is because I love cooking and genuinely like (and have bought) his products and would feel happy selling them. I wear make-up, jewellery and perfume but I don't love it and dont feel passionate about selling it!

The more I read, the more I like the sound of it, it seems very flexible, you can sell in a number of ways including with your own online shop and at fairs etc and 20% commission seems reasonable to me.

I will keep researching but thanks a lot for the help!

There IS a start up cost with avon - £15, which is spread across your first 2 orders... £7.50 each time.

As per my previous post, only IF you place an order. There is NO upfront fee.

  • Hi,

There is also Wikaniko, where you can eco friendly products to households and business, they also do mineral make up.

and there is also FM Perfumes and Cosmetics, which is no start up fee.

Cant think of any others off the top of my head lol. hope that helps!

  • Thanks everyone, I am seriously considering scentsy now. Have looked into Jamie at home and I love the stuff but im worried about the pricing, I don't know whether people want to pay so much for things and also I doubt there would be much repeat ordering as once you have the stuff you have it forever! I'm still thinking about it but Im leaning towards trying scentsy for now!

It can be hard to make a living doing any of these things. My cousin did Avon 20 hours a week or so for a full year and only made around £4K. I think you have to be part of some large communities for it to be worth your time.
  • recruiting is the key to all direct sales/party plan. If you can build up a team of even just 5 people, it will make a difference to what you earn.

    Hope that helps :)

Its worth checking all the Companies whose products appeal to you and which you think will provide repeat sales so you aren't constantly having to look for new customers. I have tried several Companies over the years and always struggled for repeat sales until now...... Good luck in whatever you choose to do, perhaps look for a Company where you can retail in many different ways in case one way doesn't suit you. I'm thinking about approaching local groups and doing talks about chemicals in products and the damage to the environment.

I'm a Phoenix Trader. (Phoenix Trading) It's selling cards and giftwrap. I found this was perfect for me as most people need greeting cards. I work part time and also have 2 children so it works well for me. It's not going to make me rich as I simply do it for a bit of extra income and some "me time". Like other people have said, best to do something you would actually enjoy doing.
