I reported my employer tax evasion to hmrc nothing happens

This is what i have sent to hmrc

I have been working in their takeaway for about 7 years part time (they pay me cash hand). All the workers inside this shope getting cash in hand money for their work. the owners been doing tax fraud since they owned the shop ( about 14 years) The shop make over 5500 a week the owner bucket all the cash and only declare minimum wage. We are 3 drivers and 3 people in the kitchen. The owner share his cash profit with his brother. He told me they have been doing this for over 14 years when he was with me as i rent one of their his houses. I asked how can you buy three houses in the uk and one house Europe and other in Mororoco and run two cars and other expensive parties ( he is go three houses in the UK. one he lives in, one he rent to his parents and they get dss and one he is renting to me). When he told me that i was shocked. He even claim child tax credit, working tax credit and child care. He also mentioned the shop make over 24k a month his profit a month over 3 to 5 k for him and 3 to 5 k for his brother after all the wages, bills, expenses.

I have reported them about more than 1 month ago.

Can please let me know why hmrc didn't take any action. Has any one had similar experience with their employer.

Thanks very much

You sent that to the HMRC....Where is the proof? It takes years for a HMRC enquiry to resolve...it certainly won't be a month....and you will never hear anything of it.

I see no real proof in the above statement it's all just hearsay and that is not evidence. Have you as a self employed driver been declaring your own income and expenses to the HMRC? I doubt it so you are just as bad as the client you are delivering for. You should now expect yourself to be investigated and be prepared for a tax bill going back 7 years.

What do you mean by proof. The hmrc can not see one of the owner run three houses and claim working tax credit, child tax credit and child care. I dont have any issues if hmrc would investigated my income as i have reported to them 100 times now that i work 16 hours a week as i have back problems. However i have asked the owner to put on PAYE 100 times and they never did. How can i get proof when he told me this by his own words?

So....what.... WTC's and CTC's can be claimed by small business owners. There is no capital/asset test. You can be a millionaire and still claim working tax credits.

Make up your mind...if you are reporting your income to the HMRC then you are self employed as you should be if you are using your own car to deliver with. You can't then decide to be paid through PAYE. Employers do that for employees and you are not an employee.

A case of a joint conspiracy to defraud in my opinion - knowing that fraud was being perpetrated, complicit in it's operation and accepting the proceeds of that crime (no tax being deducted).

    Be prepared to be interviewed!!

You don't know what they are doing behind the scenes. a month is a very short time to investigate. However as others have mentioned, unless you declared your cash in hand income, you have also committed a crime. Perhaps not on the same scale as your employers, but serious nonetheless. If you have been claiming benefits aswell, then you are really in trouble.

Once the investigation is complete, do you think that they will tell you of the outcome?

I dont mind to be interviewed. I dont have anything to hide. I even took the step to report them once the owner said to me openly.
