There are plenty of aircraft that leave these shores every day for a much better place.

Did you not consider leaving the job after you found out what was happening? You seem to have a conscience about what is right and wrong.

I used to work in the department that deals with this.

It does take more than a month, evidence must be gathered, etc, I am not allowed to say what happens (official secrets act was signed) as it's all geared up to arrests if necessary

I dont mind to be interviewed. I dont have anything to hide.

You paid no tax and knew it was cash in hand. You'll be done for tax evasion as much as they will. At best you'll be given a bill for thousands of pounds.

Im not so sure about that , Its the employers responsibility to pay tax and N.I , not the employees

Are you serious? You have survived 7 years working for this client on less than £6,000 a year and paid rent and all the expenses of operating a car and you had no problem with that. All without the help of benefits...and if this was all earnt without the help of benefits why are you reporting to the jobcentre? You should have been filling in self assesment tax returns declaring the income and any expenses you incurred and paying tax on your profit.

Except when the OP is a self employed driver as most workers for takeaways legitimately are. Then it is the workers responsibility. OP is not an employee. Provides own vehicle, chooses own hours, can decide to work or not to work, takes the risk with car insurance, no sick leave, no annual leave...they are all pointers to self employment. The client is not paying minimum wages plus a mileage rate for use of own car. They pay a fixed amount per delivery. No deliveries = no payment.

Why are you all attacking the OP ? ( apart from it being a national past time on here ).Employers who dont pay taxes are robbing all of us , not to mention they probably ignore all employees rights plus health and safety issues
