I'd be interested to see what you think of this idea.

Since no-one else has commented I will give it a go.

I am not sure that how you choose your password is the most important thing here. The security afforded by any randomised password is only as great as the owners ability to keep it to him/herself. If any account is available to a hacker then I am sure they have software capable of discovering the/any password.

The advantage in your method is when you need a password which is not written down or stored in some seemingly safe and ecrypted software. You have the facility to remember such a password without it being recorded anywhere but in your head.

You will only be capable of remembering a limited number of such passwords but the mnemonic approach you use should increase that number.
It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.

I use keepass because it even has a version that runs on my Windows 6.5 mobile phone! but best of all the versions for all platforms can open copies of the (encrypted of course) same password file. So I only need to update the one on my PC. Then every now and then I put a copy on my NAS drive for the other PC's and a copy to my phone to update that. As the file type is registered in Windows you can just put a desktop shortcut to the keepass data file. A quick click, enter a password (I use my bank pin code) and bingo all your passwords.

I also store all account numbers, phone numbers on the back of cards for reporting stolen, pins, security codes and of course website addresses and account details.

I've started to save really important passwords in a secure folder app called My Files my iPad2. iPad never leaves the house plus it's also got a password which I can remember easily & don't need to write down. I use Norton Identity Safe on PC.

Not exactly secure if your iPad or PC was stolen and you have not made safe backups!

Key pass is a good secure free open source password safe for a PC

I think there is a similar product for androird (probably ios too) but I forget the name.

Sadly, Avast won't let me install this program, it thinks it's dodgy!! :(

Pretty safe if it's stolen because 10 wrong attempts at password then all information is wiped. Can also remote lock & wipe iPad using iCloud from my PC. Also have backup for password.

I have started to use a system a friend told me about, very simple and no need to write down or save.
You take the first 4 or 5 or more letters of the site and add a number that you can easily remember somewhere in the letters.
So for Money Saving Expert you could use mo1234ne
and for Amazon am1234az etc. etc.
