Unfortunately banks don't follow any form of logic, despite already ripping customers off with credit cards they have to screw the retailer as well. Just to give you an idea we have to pay a monthly rental for the payment terminal and then a reasonable flat rate fee of 11p per debit card transaction, but a fixed rate of 1.1% per credit card transaction. So if someone pays £100 by credit card rather than debit card it costs 10 times as much to process.0 -

I didn't know that actually. We have used our debit cards in Aldi and Lidl, but have never tried to use our credit card.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

I've got a Scottish credit card but they won't accept it in English Lidls...:rotfl:
A lot of Co-ops won't accept credit cards either.0 -
I used my mastercard credit card in Lidl in Spain last week, although on 2 of the 4 occasions they asked to see my passport to verify it was mine.0

I found out the first time I shopped there (Lidl in UK that is).
Offered a Mastercard and was told no Credit Cards, but they do accept Debit Cards.
It also take what seems like forever for the transaction to appear on my bank statement (although I'm used to this now)“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
I don't know if any of you have heard of the Jesus Army? It's a big Christian organisation based in Northamptonshire. They own several business one of which is a building materials supplier, I phoned them once to ask the price of something and when I asked if they accepted credit cards they said "no we don't believe in them". As I hung up I thought you may not believe in them but they do exist all the same.:rotfl:
According to their website: "We use a SSL secure server for on-line credit card transactions, so you may purchase with complete confidence. We accept Delta, Mastercard (Eurocard) and Visa cards. Payment by credit card for international purchases is extremely efficient and cost effective. The credit card company does the currency conversion for you, usually at a very good rate."

Even funnier, I remember when people used to carry bits of paper and metal to pay for things :rotfl:
I have been known to ask charity collectors outside Tesco whether anyone carries money anymore. I am pretty sure neither my credit or debit card will fit in the slot which is on top of their tin (plastic). They often look confused at this but then lots of people look confused when I speak to them. It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0
