I regularly use my CC in both Aldi and Lidl. They take them in Scotland ;)

I smell racial discrimination here, English credit cards not good enough for the Germans, but Scottish ones are.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

I don't know if any of you have heard of the Jesus Army? It's a big Christian organisation based in Northamptonshire. They own several business one of which is a building materials supplier, I phoned them once to ask the price of something and when I asked if they accepted credit cards they said "no we don't believe in them". As I hung up I thought you may not believe in them but they do exist all the same.:rotfl:

I bet they don't believe in Father Christmas or the tooth fairy either :D.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Took my prepaid Mastercard into Lidl as my new way of keeping to my spending is to transfer my housekeeping to it, only to find they don't accept 'credit cards' :( Apparently they accept Meastro, but no Mastercard.

What made you think they took a pp mastercard or did you do it on the off chance.
  • there is something in scotish legislation which means they have to accept them but as nothing similar exists in england (possibly wales too) they take cash or debit only

Quite a bit smaller than big.

I thought that a prepaid card was a debit card and not a credit card.

You'd laugh if you ever saw their Head Office

Wonderful company, like them a lot, they have some really friendly staff in the Brixton branch

surely if they take debit cards though they would still have to pay the merchant fee and fee for having the machines, so why not take credit cards too? maybe I misunderstand how they work but I would have thought the machines don't differentiate/charge more whether you pay by credit or debit card.
