there are with some rental agencies...there aren't with others...and you can usually get the same sort of price without a one-way fee...but it's not a foregone conclusion that there will be no one-way charge. :)

The ones that I clicked through from Kayak all had one way fees of circa $150.

I've used usrentacar several times and I'll happily recommend them.

we have rented with CH3000 one-way before and if there IS a one way fee, they will let you know and you can check the difference in price to swap to another agency without one...we did it a few years ago and it was £12 or £18 or something to swap to Dollar vs. a one way fee with whoever it was originally.

Thanks Murphy, that's who I have used too in the past and have booked with them for this trip. No one way fee and their gold rate takes care of everything

Allow plenty of time for getting through security as an 'alien' on an internal flight in the US. Non-US citizens get singled out for more detailed checks - they mark your boarding card at check-in to help ensure this happens.

hmm...not sure about that...my husband has never been singled out for more detailed checks at security when in the US, taking internal flights...it seems if it was common, that your card was marked as it were, it would have happened at least a few times...unless the 'more detailed checks' take an extra 10 seconds and we don't even realise that they are happening.

Well - just our experience the last three times we've travelled as a family intra-US.

Scrapped the 1 hour layover for a 2.5 hour layover instead.

Never, ever seen that happen. I fly regularly within the US.

I probably would too but I'm paranoid about timings...but some internal connections you don't even need to leave the terminal - if your arriving and departing flights use the same terminal, so you don't need to worry about clearing security again...but depends on the airline(s)/airport...you can sometimes get an idea on arrival/departure gates by looking at the same flight today/tomorrow...to get an idea...not guaranteed it will always work out the same, but a good guideline at least.

As as alien living in the US I've never had extra checks in the 200+ internal flights I've taken.
