USA Internal Flights

I am planning on flying from San Francisco to Flagstaff in September/October, there are no direct flights and will fly via Pheonix, some of the flights available only have 1 hour for the transfer at Phoenix, we have to collect luggage and put them on the plane to Flagstaff.
Is one hour enough time to do this?

Make sure you buy a ticket for a journey all the way to Flagstaff. That way, you will not need to collect and re-check your baggage, and if you miss your connection that will be the airline's problem.0

Do what Voyager said.
You will just have to walk from one gate to another, they could be feet apart if you are lucky. You wont have to do anything with your luggage if its just a through ticket with one airline.
Look at what the minimum legal connection time is for that airport, if its 60 mins or more then its ok to book the flight. Ive searched on google and/or Flyer Talk to find it out before.0 -
Will you be staying in Flagstaff for very long?
If it's only a few days then you may be better off taking a couple of changes of clothes in your carry on baggage and buying toiletries etc when you get there.
Even if you book a through ticket, you may make it but your baggage may be delayed, and although the airline will be responsible for getting it to you in Flagstaff, you may still be without it for a while.0 -

Thanks Shaun, we're staying over night and going on a road trip, the thought of no luggage is scary, so I'll book a different flight with a longer connection time.
Thanks Voyager and Claire, both flights are US airways.0 -

Phoenix to Flagstaff is about 150 miles, have you thought about starting your roadtrip from Phoenix? possibly some economies in there as well perhaps.0 -

Flying into San Francisco for 3 nights, then onto Flagstaff - road trip for 6 days followed by Vegas for 6 days. No one way charge for dropping rental car off in Vegas (didn't check but I expect there would be for a rental from Phoenix). Grand Canyon is our first stop on the road trip.
Booked internal flight now, SFO (3.40pm) to PHX (arrive 5.35pm) flight out is 8.02pm arriving in FLG at 8.51, car rental booked for 9.30 pm.
p.s. does anyone have a link to eticketing, check in, boarding passes etc... last time we went it was ticket through the post and arrive at the airport, technology has got ahead of me...0 -

There are no one way charges on rentals between Cal-Nev-Ari states.0 -

there are with some rental agencies...there aren't with others...and you can usually get the same sort of price without a one-way fee...but it's not a foregone conclusion that there will be no one-way charge.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
The ones that I clicked through from Kayak all had one way fees of circa $150.0
