Used Focus C-Max.....is this a good deal?

Hi,
I am going to view a 2004 (04) Focus C-Max tomorrow which is advertised on autotrader for £2259.
The spec is this:
2004(04) 2.0 TDCi Zetec 139000 miles.
It has a full ford dealer service history(receipts etc) with cam belt change at 101k. 12 months MOT. New pads and discs, and new starter motor.
On speaking to owner, it has a scratch to front bumper (parking injury) which would cost about £100 to repair (according to his quote). Otherwise in very good condition. He has only had it 3 months........selling for 'personal' reasons......................hmmm should I be worried?
Is 139000 much to high a mileage. previous owner had it for 6 years and did mainly motorway driving.
He wants to sell it asap hence the low price......he gave me the impression that he would accept £2000.
Any thoughts?........too good to be true? Or a good deal?
Thank you in advance
Not as silly as I was thanks to MSE:)

If its been well looked after then mileage is irrelevant. Have a good look over it, if you dont know what your looking for get someone who does to go with you.

There is on other on autotrader with similar milage but not as good history declared at £2100 and then theres a 2006 model with full service history and the 1.6 engine at £2700. So I would say that the price looks good.

i would be very very wary if i was you
pity you cant post up the link
do a google of his phone numbers for starters see if he is a motor trader but selling as private to deny you consumer rights
if it comes up clean get the name and address off log book and the document reference number
you can then contact the previous owner and do an mot history check as well as an hpi,

always rings bells when people have cars 3 months

    SB

heres a link to the car on autotrader (well i assume its that car as it matches the ops description)

    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201215463185081

I checked the phone number earlier and didnt get anything back.

Didnt spot the hes owned it for 3 months bit earlier thought he had had it 6 years from the add. Thats not a good sign as SB says have a look at the mot certificate and log book, get the reference number from it and do an MOT check.

    yep traders advert that
look at the tyres too they looked shined and also the driving lights are turned on
oh and only a mobile number ,now thats ok if you are a trader because it means you can contact them any time but with a private advert it means they can chuck the sim card once you drive away

its actually quite a good advert

So you buy the car, what are you going to do with it?

Are you going to have the cambelt/tensioner/water pump replaced because "its probably due" or are you going to take the chance on it?

It wont be long before im buying a high mileage S-MAX/Galaxy. You pay your money, you take your chances..

If it is the car in the advert, then it has certainly been very well valeted, so could indeed be a trader posing as a private seller. Check the history very carefully, and I wonder what it has towed in its life and how much is left in the clutch.

Early C-Maxes had several electronics gremlins, but I would imagine they've all been sorted by now. Some had dodgy alternators, so check to see if that has been done.

We are on our second 2.0tdci C-Max, they have both been excellent cars, wouldn't hesitate to recommend as a family cad. When the time comes, we'll definitely have another.

Thanks everyone.........will go and check it out tomorrow, my gut feeling is that it is a good deal, the owner has given me every bit of info I need and everything seems to check out, but am prepared to walk away if needs be. As Alias says...........what can I expect for £2k.
