Have you tried a google search for the part number?
What is the model? Not this is it?

thanks but no.
The dishwasher is a Hotpoint Aquarius DF61, and the part no I need is apparently ES490451. I have looked on ebay, but no joy.
DH has cobbled a fix together, but we don't think it'll last longI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

If its any help I had a Zanussi DW bought 1n 1993, it was still working fine when 2 yrs ago I was given a 12 month old Zanussi, Its rubbish in comparison, most of the parts are plastic, compared to stainless steel in the old one. The new one doesn't wash as well and Im sure it wont last more than a few years.
I regret giving away my old one even though it looked old!
If youre happy with your model I would get the part replaced.0 -
If it is still washing well, get the part. However, start looking at a replacement or, failing this do you have a company locally which offers refurbished second hand ones. A possible compromise between a new machine & replacement part.
Like you I would hate to be without my dishwasher.

You're answer lies in this statement. Debt is for houses.0 -
We just spent about £50 on an almost 20 year old appliance (White Knight Gas tumble dryer don't tell the OSers! LOL) DH thought it was worth repairing we have not really spent much on it and it has worked hard over the years. I could live without a DW but I do use one. In the OPs position I would start to save to replace it unless she can get a 0% deal on the appliance or the credit card, I personally would not be paying interest on this.0

I wouldnt be without our DW now.
But, in contrast to a previous post we didnt realise how poor our old hotpoint was in comparison to our new (to us by 2nd hand) Bosch DW is.
World's apart and I'm so glad we chose to scrap and look about.
