well i checked the bank account this morning and noticed the 3 pending payments had come off so i phoned the bank and told them that i was informed by special investigations team that once the payments showed as coming off the account they would refund the £544 straight away and contact the companies about it and that the money has come off and the money hasnt been returned yet they said sorry about this sir we will contact them now and get the money returned to ur account. i checked again this afternoon and voila the £544 is back in my account happy days! just waiting on new bank card coming out now. im not gonna contact littlewoods or very about it . the bank will do a far better job of looking into it now than me cos its them thats now out of pocket.0

It happened to me a couple of months ago with a fraudulent transaction to the amount of £236. But Santander spotted it because it didn't fit in with my spending pattern. Santander phoned me and that was the first I heard of it. Nothing to recover because it wasn't paid out.
What happens next is that VISA do data mining to see if any of the places where the card has been used matches with other peoples cards where there have been fraudulent transactions. If it does then they contact the store/service involved for further info.0 -
Cash over the counter ?
Whether you use a debit or credit card, if this happens to you, you will be refunded in full. It's easy for the bank to tell whether it's a genuine or counterfeit card which has been used.
Not if they believe the chip and correct pin has been used!!!
Banks tell you to destroy your card after contacting them with an issue BUT your chip has a transaction counter on it so it could prove your innocence in a card cloning situation.0 -

This post relates to cash withdrawals made using a counterfeit card. Banks can tell if a counterfeit card has been used in an ATM, and would never hold you liable if this is the case. Especially where the fraud takes place abroad and it is patently obvious from your genuine card usage that you weren't in that country at the time.0 -
