Mine has been cloned a couple of times. I had to talk to a very stern woman at the LloydsTSB fraud line and confirm than the card was still in my position and than no one else had the pin number. They refunded me straight away, then sent me a list of those transactions to sign. They took a few days to get a new card to me though.

I found it pretty infuriating that they had stopped my card and not bothered telling me though. I had to phone them to find out what was going on.

Thanks. Yeah, I agree it's not the end of the world, more of an inconvenience.

Hubby was more worried about it than me because it was his card. I just told him it's one of those things that happens, but be careful where you use your card in future.

Luckily the Halifax were very helpful, they need to be, otherwise I would take my business elsewhere! :D

With a bit of effort put into collating evidence, offending petrol stations could be identified.

There's a breakdown of good faith here. In touting for our business, petrol station owners ask us to trust them to be careful in recruiting their staff.

There ought to be prosecutions, in the public interest. Just one would scare people. But the banks won't do anything about it.

  • An excellent example of why you should check all your accounts at least once a day, every day. :T

The list goes on. The bank loses. You don't.

But you do lose - even if only indirectly. The bank's losses come out from revenue from customers, of which you are one.

I think petrol stations have always had a reputation for cloning cards, I'd use pay at the pump rather than at the counter or cash.

People have been convicted and jailed for life for murder, it doesn't stop it happening.

Don't think a suspended sentence or community service for cloning a debit card would scare anyone who is dishonest enough to do it in the first place. It's not really the banks problem though is it ? It's dishonest staff in the places where the cloning takes place.
  • I too am the victim of cloned debit card. I went down to asda at half 8 on Sunday went to take money from the cash machine and when I checked the balance it said balance 570.85 available balance 24.10! I was like !!!!!!??? I got home phoned nationwide straight away explained the situation and they told me there had online card payments to very(250 quid)and 2 to littlewoods (250 quid and 44quid) that very same day at 6pm I told them that ain't me cos I don't use those companies or any catalogues. They told me their gonna wait for the payments to come off then refund the full 544 quid back to me from theirselves and investigate the matter by contacting the companies. It's just as well I spotted it to be honest cos nationwide didn't seem to. I hope they involve the police in this matter. Ppl like that are scum of the earth

    Hi Guyster1973uk,

We are very sorry to hear that your card was used to make a payment to us without your knowledge.
If you haven't already you can contact our Account Security team on 0800 015 1290. They are available from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and an advisor there would be happy to look into this for you.

    Many Thanks

Guyster, I wouldn't bother to contact anyone at Littlewoods, your issue is with Nationwide and as they have alreayd said they will refund it there is no need for you to complicate your life by getting anyone else involved. Nationwide will contact Littlewoods if the feel the need to. The Littlewoods rep should know this, and I'm surprised at what they have put in their post.
