Hi, I have just been searching the forums for a link to free downloads for my new mobile phone (Nokia N80) and came across this one (I have accessed the mobile9 website). I have just purchased a 12 month contract with O2 (from the mobileshop.com) which I have never had before (always been PAYG). My free monthly minutes started yesterday and I haven't had alot of time to explore the phone itself which came Friday (I have been at work all weekend and Friday) so don't know alot about it but I do know I would like to add extra games and wallpapers, ringtones etc.. (if possible free as I can't afford to add any extra to my £30.00 a month contract). O2 have sent me a letter yesterday giving me 5MB for the first 30 days internet usage (I think!) and after I get just 1MB so could someone tell me how and if I can access the mobile9.com website from my phone and download new games etc.. for free from my phone (or will I be charged)? Like I say I haven't had alot of time to read my phone instructions yet and first impressions are that it is not a very easy phone to understand - especially if your just a mum of 3 who is not techno minded (my eldest daughter at 16 probably would think it easy!!).
Can anyone help and advise me before I end up doing something stupid like I did when I was on PAYG and thought I was getting a free game but ended up with £3.00 coming out of my credit every time I topped up and my daughter had to get me out of it!!
Sorry this message is long but I'm new to all this.
Many thanks.0 -

If you are non-techy-literate, I'd strongly advise you not to attempt anything like downloads via your mobile phone - there are a number of very dodgy outfits out there operating with the express permission of the networks and who will shaft you for lots and lots of pennies
Download ringtones etc to your pc and then bluetooth them (or use a USB cable) to upload them to your phone. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Thanks for that. I guess I should be careful when I go looking for 'free' downloads. Would you recommend mobile9 as a website for me to download to my computer and then on to my phone via my USB cable or via bluetooth or is there any others.
thanks again!!0 -

I don't know anything about mobile9.
What I do know is that all ringtones that you listen to via your pc, irrespective of the website, end up in your Temporary Internet Files folder in your Windows directory.
Just copy them from there to somewhere else and then transfer them.
A google search for "free ringtones" etc will bring you up hundred of sites (almost none of them will actually give you free ringtones of course but it doesn't matter because if you listen to them they end up in your Temporary Internet Files folder anyway). You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

Rebekka wrote:Hi, sorry to hijack but how do you get them from pc to mobile if you have not got a data cable?
Bluetooth.
Either way works perfectly; not that many pc's are Bluetooth enabled but most phones come with a data cable these days anyway and if they don't you can pick them up cheaply. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
