how to work out my bra size......help...

I always seemed to be wearing bras that dug in around my ribcage though I was once measured at a dep. store and told I was a 38d.I was given some M&S takens for Christmas. Recently bought one from M&S in 40d and it was very comfortable (the first ever) but a little bubbly on the cup bit.
Assumed I must be 40 c then, so bought two of the cheaper ones and though I have worn them (so cant take them back) they dont fit at all well. Digging in under the ribcage and the cup sizes are even bigger than the d.
From now on I will only buy a bra after a professional measuring. Cannot afford it at the moment, but it just shows that even if bras are sized the same, the fit is not, so you do need to try each bra.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I was measured in M&S recently and they were really helpful, the lady measured me with a tape measure and then brought several bra's out for me to try. I ultimately went with the most comfortable one which was not the size I've been wearing lol. Please don't be embarrased, they see all sorts and sizes every day !!!ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

) my mother to get a Bravissimo fitting last weekend, the assistant wrote her out a little note - suppose you could call it a prescription
- saying in this this and this brand you should be looking at a 32FF, whereas in this, this and this brand you will generally find you're a 34F.
I find in M&S that most of the styles that come in bigger sizes are very heavily textured fabric and don't look good under a T-shirt  and the cups usually seem really far apart!Operation Get in Shape

Was finally measured a couple of weeks ago in M&S. I asked her not to laugh at the horrible old grey bra with no elastic left in it that I was wearing and her reply was 'madam, I'm not interested in what you're wearing at the moment'! So that was the worst bit over! Found out I'd been wearing the wrong size for years - even smaller than I thought:o . Oh well, at least what bought fits properly and tops now look so much better! But I did find that the different styles, even if the same size, varied on how they fitted.0

i will prob come home with a new sexy bra.....and my hubby will be thinking who am i seeing ....lol..Work to live= not live to work0 -
I'd recommend having a proper bra fitting, I had mine done in Debenhams. I was wearing a 34C, and I'm actually in between a 32DD and a 32E. The lady who measured me was lovely, very professional and I'm so much happier now I'm wearing the correct bra size. It's amazing what a difference it makes!0

Just one more word of advice. You do not need to buy loads of bras - just a couple of all-purpose ones that will go under every neckline you've got. Wear them for a day (or two) at a time and then HAND WASH them. I have been told that machine washed bras start to lose their elasticity after 2 months, while handwashed ones retain their shape fully for 8 months.
If you buy a couple of good quality ones (spending, say, £50), budget to do the same again in 8 months time, and spend 5 mins last thing at night ever other day handwashing them, that's the most cost effective way of wearing good quality bras.
Also, get a fitting EVERY time you buy new ones.
Edit: Having said that, once you know what a "good" fit looks like, you can keep an eye open for posh ones at knock down prices. For example, while shopping at Boundary Mill in Colne with 2 other Old Stylers, I got a lovely pretty pink Lepel one in a perfect fit for £5 - I think it was originally over £25!Operation Get in Shape
