I do agree the comment was out of order by the poster. I appreciate the working population, without benefits I could not survive. I am glad it's in place.

I don't live comfortably but I am thankful that I have a roof over my head (I have been homeless) and food in the fridge and I appreciate the Internet more than anything as it is a necessary lifeline for me being bedbound.

And no-one would deny you that....but just think about the scroungers for a minute. They are taking money that YOU could do with, our pensioners (don't believe the carp that some spout on here about them all rolling in it), the NHS, schools...the list is endless. I work in an environment exposed to benefit claimants. I can absolutely promise you that for every genuine claimant, there are dozens who are milking the system and to add insult to injury, they are rather pleased with themselves for doing it.

Yes, I totally understand, and agree that some are milking the system, and those that do and brag about it do nit realise how lucky they are to live in a country that offers such support. However, what I don't like is being tarred with the same brush, it really does get depressing.

I don't believe in being ungrateful and bragging about benefits to those that work, because it does no good for my spirit, and I think what goes around, comes around, so I don't believe it is a good way to behave.

We need to be grateful and thankful, not selfish and brag. However, I just wish people would not think everyone is on the fiddle.

Do you find it is enough to live on comfortably?

lol... I live incredibly cheaply.. definitely enough to live on... my problem is spending money properly... or at all... I don't turn the heating on for example or go out. Living comfortably sadly is something completely out of reach... I don't think any amount of money would change that.

I'm sure most people don't think everyone is on the fiddle and those who do aren't worth worrying about.

To turn things round though, I get fed up with scroungers who believe it's their right to be supported by the workers.

you didn't miss nearly £400 a month for FOUR months? is the money really needed then?

Couldn't have said it better myself...

What I'd give to live in my "own" house and live the life of luxury some people have. I get IB at the mo, waiting to hear about ESA, off that I have to pay a certain amount rent due to HB not covering my rent as they now say I am only entitled to a 2 bedroomed house for myself & son since my eldest son joined the army, yet they cant give me a 2 bedroomed one.. I struggle every week and I'd sure as hell miss £4 per month nevermind £400..

oh lucky you having some freedom since benefits came into your lives, and as you put it, are paying your way in the relationship.
One small problem though, your benefits aren't wages really are they, so no, YOU aren't paying your way in anything really are you.

Yes, I am lol. I was a tax payer once also!

Bet you wouldn't swap it for severe Autism or Schitzoaffective Disorder though would you? I worked extremely hard for my first house 11 years ago. I met my present partner 6 years ago. He rented as he couldn't afford to buy a house on his own. He has never once put me down since I had my disorder. That's worth more than money! He works incredibly hard and has never knocked people on benefits either. It's so hard to apply for benefits. I don't know of any fraudsters...
