Hi daysie :hello:
I think getting the business and personal expenses seperate is the first thing you need to do.
Do another SOA without the business costs and see what the difference is.
Plenty of excellant suggestions from other people. Not sure I can add a lot to it.
Have you got a water meter?
If not might be worth finding out if you can save some money by having one fitted. Should be something on the website of your water compny to help you work it out.
The general rule of thumb seems to be if you have more bedrooms than people you can save with a meter.
Obviously depends on how you use water, whether anyone likes 3 half hour showers a day etc.
I know it probably seems like loads of things to do and sort out so just take it one step at a time.
You'll get there
If I think of anything else I'll let you know0 -
Hi Daysie
The last of my cats died in January at the grand old age of 19 and although we miss him loads we have noticed that we spend a lot less - in his last few months we were feeding him cooked chicken or fish! Also the house is cleaner & we can sit in our conservatory without getting smothered in white fur!! I won't have another cat but I do miss having one tripping me up and wailing when he sees me!!
I have a little old dog who costs very little.
I haven't read your SOA yet but I find it's not the bills etc I have a problem with its spur of the moment spending which I still struggle with. I've got my bills right down by reading this thread & old style.

Daysie I have just been reading some of the other posts on your thread and I know no one will agree with me but if your daughter is saving hard for a house deposit and helps with cooking and cleaning and buys her own food then £150 seems reasonable. You are helping her make a start and she is obviously pretty switched on if she is saving for a deposit. Good luck to her.Debt Free Date [STRIKE]December[/STRIKE] June 2019

Having said that i have asked her if she would be ok if we put the rent up a bit and she said ok, so will let you know how much we agree on.
Thought : the quicker she helps you out of this mess, the quicker the bank of Mum and Dad will be open to credit requests again...Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

I have just asked her for an extra £30 a month, which i felt mean asking for, but she has agreed, not much but better than nothing!0 -
True - but she doesn't request any!

True, but she might need a little bit of a hand with the house deposit....
Don't feel mean about asking for more rent. I'm with the 'we don't do them any favours by Molly coddling them' crowd. Sooner or later, she's going to fly the nest and then she'll be in the real world of frightening petrol bills and unexpected rent increases. She will have to cope somehow and the best thing you can do it show her how. You've made a start, now keep going.
Oh yes, you asked about cats on a budget? Keep this in mind...I've never yet seen a cat voluntarily starve itself to death. Believe me, if you're psyched out by a cat, you're in trouble. However, trick, cats seem to like yeast for some reason...a little sprinkle might entice them.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
