I havent seen much gloating from us Sky userstunesurfer wrote:
The Sky customers gloating now will possibly be changing their minds when they have to foot the bill from lost revenue and later when Virgin media put in good bids for all the popular programs such as lost simpsons ect.
alot do feel sorry for Vm subscribers who are missing channels they like through no fault of their own, both Vm and Sky only think about profit....like most businesses! I would love some decent telly on a Saturday night0 -
Hi All
I work for a TV channel and can assure youu that the package Sky is demanding Virgin accept is a HUGE increase. Sky are saying it's only 3p per box per day but that works out to just under double the previous rate. Its a big difference.0 -
VM were claiming Sky wanted to "nearly double" its price for the channels . Sky refuted this and said "its only a 70% increase" !!!
Sky are afraid of VM , as they getting bigger , and now pose a serious threat to them . NTL were offering phone/TV/internet packages for years . Only now do Sky do the same .
Apparently VM might rename some of the Flextech channels as Virgin 1 or such like . Hopefully they will then start to bid on some big TV series .
I will miss Sky 1 a bit , but I'm not going to have sleepless nights about it , nor am I going to cancel my VM services . If I was fussed about Sky channels that much , I would have got Sky in the first place .0 -
I have NTL/Virgin and have done so for approx 6/7 years at least, I cannot understand why Sky users would cut off their services because Sky cut channels for NTL/Virgin, that totally baffles me.
I have 10 meg broadband which i cannot get above 3 due to the BT exchange needing to be up graded so broadband will be staying with NTL, as for TV, that i am getting rid of and moving onto free view. When Virgin media took over NTL they said they were going to make sure that customer services was 10 x better, wrong, it is absolutely diabolical, and this is going to be the reason why they lose customers not necessarily lost channels through Sky not renting them out.

I'm actually surprised that he monopolies and mergers commission (if it still exists) haven't actually stuck their noses into Virgin taking over NTL. As you say Sky are feeling threatened. If Virgin media come up with a whole now package that could pull more customers in then Sky could have a problem on their hands far worse than not renting a few channels. Having said that they really need to sort out the customer service side or allot of their customers will going over to the opposition.0 -
Anyone know if virgin customers have any comeback against virgin themselves as the basis of our agreed contracts have all changed.0

Check out the Digital Spy website HERE that has quite a few articles on Virgin/Sky
In the article I have linked to it says:Virgin Media will allow customers to cease subscribing to the company's services and switch to another provider even if they are locked into a contract.Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
It does still exist . But they've nothing to investigate . Virgin havent taken over NTL . Sir Dicky wanted rid of Virgin Mobile , NTL wanted in the mobile phone business . Virgin exchanged their mobile business for 17% of NTLs shares and NTL have licensed the Virgin name for 30years .changkra wrote:I'm actually surprised that he monopolies and mergers commission (if it still exists) haven't actually stuck their noses into Virgin taking over NTL.
The MMC did however investigate when NTL bought over Telewest and found no conflict .0 -
my boyfriend is going to leave virgin to change to sky - Sky offered a new deal with Virgin, but virgin chose to ignore it
we don't live together, I changed to sky tv a good while ago (good sky plus features), but still have phone with ntl and broadband - not heard any different about the provider
but when boyfriend phoned sky they said they are indated with customers wanting to join them from virgin, and are very busy0
