Santander threateneing home visit

I received a letter from Santander
a month ago saying that I need to contact them urgently as i had an unarranged overdraft
on my account of £110. I hadn't used this account for some time and had received nothing prior to this letter. I wrote to them asking why I was overdrawn and explained that I hadn't used the account. I get another letter a week later saying that the overdrawn balance was now £200 odd. I haven't used the account so don't know why it's overdrawn. I write to them again saying that I want statements of the account to show the transactions and confirmed again that I have not made any transactions. Next thing is on sat I get a letter saying that my account is now £300 odd overdrawn and they are sending an agent to my house on Friday 13th April. What do I do? I have no idea why I'm overdrawn as haven't used the account and despite asking for details, Santander haven't told me. I'm so scared

something like this sent recorded will stop them visiting you, others will offer advice on how to deal with them, but be aware that debt collectors have no powers at all, the same for the agents they say will visit you.
Dear Sirs,
Account No: XXXXXXXX
Please be advised that I will only communicate with you in writing. I have noted your repeated attempts to contact me over the past few weeks and these have been duly logged by time and date. Should it be your intention to arrange a doorstep visit, please be advised that under OFT rules, you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make such an appointment with you.
There is an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v Sheppard & Short Ltd [1959] 2 QB 384. per Lord Evershed M.R.). Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives to visit me at my property and, if you do so, you will be liable to damages for a tort of trespass and action will be taken, including but not limited to, police attendance.
Yours faithfullyExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Why don't you call them to ask ? It can probably be sorted out over the phone, writing just delays things.0

Because stuff on phone calls can be denied, its best to get everything in writing when dealing with companies like Santander or their ilk!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

Okay they cant really deny, but internet banking or going in branch .....Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Ok the OP is expecting someone to call this Friday. If it was me, i wouldn't be writing letters, i'd be on the phone pretty sharpish.
The OP was contacted a month ago by Santander (not known for their excellent and speedy customer service) A telephone call could have sorted things out by now. Santander have probably been trying to contact the OP by phone anyway. I agree if things can't be sorted out THEN start sending letters.0 -
Thing is meer53 you are going against standard advice on here, calls are no good when everything can be denied, in writing means there is a paper trail, when it sent recorded there is proof that they have received the letters. The next step is for the OP to open an offcial complaint with them as they are not responding to the letter send already.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. I know i am, but if someone was threatening to send someone to my house THIS FRIDAY to collect a debt that i knew nothing about, i wouldn't be sat there with my pen and paper
Bit of common sense needed sometimes, you can always back up your query with a letter.0 -
They won't send anyone around though , it's just an idle threat so people will pay up, debt collectors have no power to do anything, if one turns up at your door just tell them to sod off , they are not bailiffs they cannot demand payment, they can't levy goods in or outside your home.
If you use this quick guide to deal with debt collectors - they are pathological liars with no powers.

Whos to say they wont? Just because they have not done it before does not mean a company hasnt changed its policys. After all companys are having to due to none payment riseDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it.
