Answer the question. Why are all these companies PAYING for adverts if the jobs have gone to people they know? I am sure that's a good use of money eh!

Yes there are loads advertised every day I know that I search every day, however what I am saying is a large proportion do not get advertised. Not every job gets advertised that is a fact

LOL You aren't in the USA are you? I think you are finding excuses and there is NO WAY there are 60% of jobs that are not advertised here. I know this as I know people who are advertising jobs as we speak and they have not given the job to joe bloggs' son at all.

I live in East London. I am not a graduate, no but have 24 years experience in what I do. What common? Jobs go via word of mouth? That's only what you say, its not common in the UK at all or there would be like I say and have shown you no jobs being advertised at all.

Read the thread, we have employers saying different, whats advertised appears to only be a section of whats available

I know different so lets agree to disagree ok

You have stated that 60% do not get advertised and I am telling you that companies would not pay for agencies and adverts if they have no jobs

Sorry but that is RUBBISH!! All companies advertise or go to agencies. Sorry but they do. If you think that nearly all jobs go via word of mouth I do not know what world you live in.

All? I think you need to know your facts from your assumptions. Sure, some, even many, or even most but not all.

Last place I worked for did both. They took on people via word of mouth AND advertised. 8 of us started, 2 were word of mouth, 6 were from advertising. Thats 3/4 of the staff for one company.

Just because thats the way you see it or thats the way it happens in your area, doesn't mean its 100% right.
