Thanks grey lady I didn't think about music!
  • Congratulations!

I'm kind of old fashioned in that it is too early to start buying for Baby moneypuddle.

By all means go window shopping for baby things. Then put the money you would have spent in an account/jar for when Baby moneypuddle arrives.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

Thanks faerie. I know some people wait a little longer, but we've been saving for a year already so although we don't want to overspend, money isn't really an issue, plus we need to order the cot next weekend, so that's kind of spurred us on a little bit, and its just too exciting!

Thanks Brazilian. I'm thinking layers will help with him/her being a winter baby, but hoping not to go overboard and waste money!

My winter baby is half northern, so she's like a human hot water bottle!

Layers were a total waste of money for us (or would have been had we bought any!)

We never had a baby bath (she came in with one of us until she could go in on her own at about 7 months), nor a changing table, nor a cot bed.

We did have bottles and a steriliser because I planned to combine breastfeeding and expressing, but that didn't work out and I ended up exclusively expressing for 6 months.

We didn't have a baby swing, she wore the snowsuit my inlaws bought her once (when we put her in the actual snow at 10 weeks! :rotfl:).

Now she's bigger I get her clothes from Next or babyGap in the sale (they fit perfectly) or eBay.

Her pram/pushchair were £800+, but I haven't needed anything else and she's had almost every nap she's ever had in it! My friends are on their 4th or 5th buggy by now.

  • Mildred1978 you are a happy go lucky kind of person by the looks of things.

baby sleeping bags are a god send as said above.
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.

    Bless!

I know the excitement well. Believe me when I say you can get carried away and waste a lot of cash on a newborn.

My daughter gets too hot in grobags - even a 1 tog one in the depths of winter!

She mostly sleeps without a blanket or anything over her. Luckily the house is usually warm!

We used a blanket when she was tiny. Now I chuck one over her, but it never lasts more than about 10 minutes!

I know a lot of people say you dont need a moses basket but we have had to buy one because we want the baby in with us, but their is no room in our bedroom for a cot even if we rearranged furniture. Of those of you who did have a moses basket, do you think I'm likely to need a stand?

Also what do they recommend as the bedding for a newborn?

Izzy slept in with us most of the time when she was tiny, or in her hammock in our room. Both worked well.

Beddingwise she had a fitted sheet over the hammock mattress and a cellular blanket over her, tucked in. If she was in with us, then she just lay on the sheet on the mattress between our pillows (far enough away so as not to be a risk to her).
