I love york too, been there twice, once in a caravan just outside york and last year we stopped in a lovely bed and breakfast just outside the main town.
Sorry to hear about your OH not getting a regular job, cudnt he take over the bulk of your avon orders and maybe then canvass for more orders further afield, and even if acting jobs came along he could still do this with your help too on days he was away. Hope he sorts himself out anyway,
Have a good day piggy xxxxxx
Thanks!
Unfortunately Avon doesn't work like that - you are assigned your territory and you have to stick to it. Also OH and DS do actually help me quite a lot with Avon already. As for OH canvassing? It is not really his thing.
But that is all academic really - the main problem is that increasing the Avon is just not enough!
I have a shortfall at the moment of about £250 a month (much better than it used to be it has to be said). That is part of the problem. The other part is that OH has been spending on the credit card (my credit card I might add) like theirs no tomorrow and not paying any of it back because he can't afford it, so it has been muggins here who has been making all the minimum repayments. He has not exactly been spending money on random purchases, but on essential expenses - travel costs for auditions, etc etc. This is even worse because if he hasn't even got enough money to pay for the essentials, never mind luxuries, that is not good news and you would think that it might have spurred him into action to do something about it!
Can you tell I am annoyed with him?!PigginSkint's debt free diary

I didn't get time at work today to update - that is when I normally do it - because I had a really tedious but necessary job to do which took rather longer than I thought it would.
OH and I had further words over the weekend but I have been trying to hide quite how annoyed I am at him - using the carrot and stick philosophy! Also I think if I get his back up too much it could be counter-productive, so I am having to tread carefully. The odd guilt trip doesn't go amiss though! (tee hee hee!!)
His mum helped me with realising it yesterday. She knows nothing really about quite how bad our finances are but she does know of OH's lack of work. She mentioned something yesterday that I haven't really dared to bring up - the fact that as he is getting older now, he will find it harder and harder to get work.
Whatever, I think we might actually be getting through to him. He bought the Guardian today (creative and media jobs pages) without me having to remind him.
Also there is one other very important job that he needs to do and I have been nagging him to do something about for ages (probably for the whole of the 5 years we have been together). I don't want to be too explicit (though if anyone is dying to know you can pm me) but let's just say he needs to sort his finances out. This has a knock-on effect on me because I need to do something as well, but I can't really do anything until he does what he needs to do - very frustrating for me therefore that he keeps putting it off. Anyway, I have told him that within the next couple of months I will sort my issue out so he had better pull his finger out and sort his out!! (Again pm me if I am being too obtuse!)
A funny thing happened today though - I came home with a burning desire to sort my paperwork out and try to get up to date with my filing. So I have been through the basket where all post etc ends up, sorted out all items for binning, recycling and shredding. Then I moved all all of my filing to my half-way-house filing box (alphabetised) which helps with the preliminaries of sorting things out and then I have filed all the credit card statements from there (there are others lurking around the house but most of them are there now). In the meantime I have got rid of old credit card cheques, giro slips etc. I have filled about 5 carrier bags with stuff I have shredded. Very satisfying.
I have finally managed to get most of my 1st April figures together ready to update my signature. I will put them on my spreadsheet at work tomorrow (easier to do at work as I have Excel on my work computer but not at home) and then I can update my sig - about time too! Blimey I hope it's not too bad otherwise I shall have OH's b*****ks for earrings!! But there again, it might just be the extra kick up the a**e he needs!
Anyway, better go and do tomorrow's lunches and then off to bed with my book - I am close to finishing it and it getting most exciting!
Goodnight all!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Right - lunches done. Made myself a yummy pasta salad (pesto, red onion, tomatoes and olives) which has made 2 portions for lunch tomorrow and Wednesday. DS's usual lunch is done - bread and butter, jam to add at lunchtime tomorrow(so sarnies don't go soggy), cheese scone, fromage frais, bottle of orange squash.
OH is rehearsing his songs to entertain the old ladies tomorrow, but I think it is now time for me to finally go to bed with my book.
So, for the 2nd time, goodnight all!PigginSkint's debt free diary
