Hi All
Well another busy weekend has gone by, all too quickly! At least it was a (mostly) enjoyable weekend.
On Friday OH decided to treat us to an Indian takeaway, in order to celebrate my birthday. Didn’t eat it all (ate some next day) but definitely yum! I had visits from my Dad, my youngest brother and OH’s mum. My Dad gave me a bottle of rather good champagne as a present, which we drank with our takeaway. My other presents were: 2 new CDs Hot Chip and The Hoosiers from OH, homemade (well, made at school) mobile phone holder from DS, £20 from OH’s mum, box of chocolates from a friend at work, new liquidiser from my brother (before anyone says anything – this is what I asked for!). So all in all a good haul!
On Saturday we went into town so that I could buy a card and gift for the wedding we were going to on the night – I got a £10 Argos voucher and discovered that I had £5 worth of nectar points to use so it only actually cost £5. I confess that we did treat ourselves to some new clothes – we went into Dunnes and OH bought a pair of jeans and a pair of smart trousers (badly needed as all of OH’s trousers have holes in crotch area!!) and a smart shirt, total cost £37 so that bad – the trousers and shirt were what OH wore for the wedding do. I had decided to wear my black velvet trousers but didn’t really have anything suitable to wear with them so we nipped into Evans and found a really nice purple crinkle shirt for £10, reduced from £17. OH wanted to eat lunch in town but I persuaded him that all we really needed was a nice loaf of bread and we could go home and make some nice sandwiches from that – so we bought a nice white bloomer from a bakers. I did relent and agree to buy a pasty each – but 70p each is a lot better than even a Subway sandwich each, never mind a pub lunch!
My brother came up trumps and gave us a lift to the wedding do on the evening, so saving us one taxi fare, which was great. We had planned to leave at 11:30pm so the taxi would be cheaper but we were having so much fun we decided not to bother and stayed until the end. So cost of taxi home was £21.50. Also the drinks were not cheap – we were on the Stella at £3.20 per pint, and we drank a fair few pints each. Oh well, it was a really good night out – good music and good company - and it is so rare that we do it nowadays that I don’t really begrudge it.
However, yesterday I really paid for my excessive consumption of alcohol! I had a splitting headache all day that just wouldn’t shift and I felt sick for much of the day as well. _pale_ So I spent most of the day in bed. Luckily there was some reasonably decent stuff on telly s – Poirot, Jeeves & Wooster – so it wasn’t too bad. I got up in time to go out and get a couple of Avon books back before DS was due back at 6:30pm. Then I put the dinner on. After dinner I went straight back up to bed.
I was a little bit annoyed at DS on Sunday evening. Firstly he was late back – he didn’t get back until 6:50pm. Now he is never late coming back from his Dad’s and I had started to get worried. Apparently they had been visiting family down south for the weekend and had left late. I know that is not DS’s fault, it his Dad’s. But they really should have let me know that they would be late – I’m a mother, I worry! Also DS announced that he didn’t need dinner as he had already had Sunday lunch – again he could have told me! OH had gone to the local shop earlier in the day to buy a small joint of meat for them to eat – if he had known that DS had already had a big meal he wouldn’t have bothered. Also by the time DS got back I was already well on with cooking the dinner – the joint and roasties were already in the oven and the rest of the veggies were already in the steamer – so I had already prepared enough food for 3 of us. As it happened, dinner was ready about 8pm so I asked DS if he did want some as it would have been quite a long time since he had last eaten – being a growing lad he did, so all was not lost. The cat enjoyed his bonus meal of a bit of roast lamb though!
So as a result of all this activity, or lack of, in the case of yesterday, I have not yet made myself a birthday cake. I think I shall rectify the situation tonight. I don’t know how much of it OH will eat though as he is going back to the dentist this morning so he will have a mouth full of stitches again. Ouch! _pale_ This means I need to go to Aldi on the way home to buy some more tins of soup as he will have to be careful what he eats again!
Oh well, better do some work now. I have that Monday morning feeling again, but it could be worse – the sun is shining and it is pay day on Thursday! Woohoo!!

Hi All
Just a flying visit as I have had a verrrrrry busy day and I shall be leaving in about 5 mins to catch my train!
Finally got round to making my birthday cake last night - yum!
OH had to go the dentist again yesterday - more pain in the mouth and in the wallet!! Turns out the problems he is having may be caused by side effects from medication he is on so next stop the GP.
I need to collect the last of my Avon books in tonight, then I shall do the checking of them all etc ready to actually place my order online tomorrow. Not as big as last time I think, but not bad!
Anyway, must fly -train to catch!!

Hi All
Just time for a quick update before I go off to meeting which is likely to last most of the morning.
I was so tired last night that I barely did anything! I took DS’s stuff to him at his Dad’s and bought an multipack of wotsits on the way home. OH and I promptly scoffed all of the aforementioned wotsits!
Our new bikes arrived yesterday which was a surprise. When we ordered them last week, mine had an estimated delivery time of 2 weeks and OH’s was 3. Also they were meant to be contacting us to arrange a convenient delivery time and they didn’t – it was just good luck that OH was in when they arrived yesterday. OH spent yesterday evening assembling mine but has still got to do his own.
Yesterday evening I was so tired I completely forgot to go out to collect the last remaining Avon books so I will have to do that tonight. I also did nothing towards getting my Avon order ready to place online so I will have to do it all tonight.
Last night I was too tired to even eat, never mind cook anything! Blimey! I must have been tired!
Tomorrow is payday – woohoo! It is also Sainsbury’s delivery day so I really must make the effort today to put the final touches to the order – I am sure there are things that I have missed off it.
Did everyone feel/hear the earthquake last night?! I was only very vaguely aware of it myself but OH was awake and all of he said ‘Oh my God! The whole house is shaking!’ He wondered what on earth was happening but soon after switched on the news and found out. I looked on the BBC website this morning and apparently it was 5.3 on the Richter (sp?) scale – wow!
Oh well, better get my stuff together for this meeting. I will update again later if I get chance.

Hi All
Last week was nightmarishly busy at work for me so I barely had time to draw breath never mind update properly. The weekend was also busy and so was today!
On Saturday OH was out most of the day at a meeting. DS and I went into town to do a few jobs but I was so tired I didn’t get anything else done when I got home. I have had a quick look for the stuff for my telly but no success so far – I think I might get in touch with Littlewoods (which is who I bought it off ) to see if they can help.
On Sunday, being Mother’s Day, we did our round of visiting – on our new bikes. Woohoo!! This was very enjoyable but also very tiring. First we went up to see OH’s Mum, who doesn’t live too far away from us so that wasn’t too bad. Then we came home, had a bit of lunch and then went out again to go to my Dad’s to see my stepmother (and Dad of course) which is a lot further away and a lot harder work – nowhere round where we live is exactly flat! After we had been at theirs for a bit OH and I (we left DS at my Dad’s) rode to the churchyard (a mile away and lots more hills) to put flowers on my Mum’s grave, then back again. Then we had to leave virtually straight away if we were to stand any chance of getting home before dark. The return journey wasn’t so bad because the first bit was all down hill then the rest was all flat as we rode along the canal towpath, but by this time I was very very tired so rode very very slowly. Needless to say, by the time we got home it was dark. I had planned to cook but OH offered to buy takeaway - I snatched his hand off!!
Today I am really feeling it – saddle sore does not begin to describe it!! And everything aches!!
Oh well, nearly home time now – just waiting for one last interviewee that we are expecting. As soon as I have brought them up to the interview room I can leave – woohoo!!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi Poppy!
Oh no! Bad news about the car - so sorry to hear it. I have now been 3 years without a car - sob!I really miss it but it was costing me so much money, we couldn't really afford to keep it and I had to sell it while we still could (I only got £180 for it but that was a lot more than I thought I would get for it!). It is going to be a long time before we can afford to buy another one. I keep my hand in by hiring a car about once a year - so (a) I don't forget how to drive and (b) so we can get our fix of camping. So I know what you mean about the caravan - the absolute worst thing for us about not having a car is that we can't go camping anywhere near as much as we would like to.
Anyway, I am going home in a minute - hopefully I will have more time to update tomorrow. It could happen!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
I haven't posted for a while as I was off sick Wednesday Thursday and Friday last week - I even struggled to get through Tuesday at work. I had a really nasty cold virus - I was actually worried that it might be an ear infection as I had bad earache and felt sick and dizzy. I went to the doctors on Thursday and my ears were fine - phew! What a relief! I have too much to do to be off work sick for long at the moment!
I have a busy day today as I have a lot of catching up to do and then I am out all day tomorrow as I am helping out with some exams at a local hospital - it will be a very busy day with a lot of running around, but the manager organising everything is taking us all out for a meal afterwards so it is not all bad!
Better go, lots to do. Hope to update again later!
