    Hi All

What an eventful weekend! After a really nice evening on Thursday for Valentine’s Day – we exchanged cards, ate a nice meal at home, ate jam doughnuts and drank 2 bottles of red wine between us (hic!) – things went rather down hill on Friday night.

On Friday, OH had to go to London for an audition and then had to wait until after 6:30pm before he could catch a train back so that he could travel off-peak rather than peak – this makes a huge difference to the price of the ticket. In the meantime, he bumped into someone and started having a good old chat with them (I don’t want to name names but it was someone fairly famous) and was having a really good time. He phoned me to tell me that he would be late back. Not a problem, I said, just don’t miss the last train back.

Guess what he did? He missed the last train back! Now this wouldn’t have been a major issue except that he did not phone me to tell me that he had missed the last train, he only sent a text. The mobile signal in our house is not that great so it was 4am before I received that text – a good 4 hours after I had been expecting him home. In that 4 hours I had been getting increasingly worried about him especially as I had repeatedly tried to phone him to try to find out if he was O.K. and where he was. He didn’t answer any of my phone calls or the texts that I sent him.  A few months ago he got beaten up on a night out and ended up in hospital so I was imagining all sorts – even then he phoned to tell me what was happening. Once I had received the text message from him I went from terror to anger! All it would have taken would have been one phone call from him to me to let me know he was O.K.   At about 4:30am he managed to accidentally phone me while scrabbling in his pocket (the use of the key lock is somewhat alien to him!) so I heard the moment of realisation when he discovered that he had been pickpocketed and his wallet had been nicked – he didn’t realise that I had heard this!

So I spent half the night terrified because I didn’t know what had happened and the other half absolutely fuming with anger!

Eventually at about 9am on Saturday morning he phoned me to tell me what had happened and I had to tell him that I already knew and give him a telling off for not phoning me – he hadn’t wanted to panic me! !!!!!!!!!

Anyway he told me that the cards had been stopped – his debit card and the Egg card on which he is an additional cardholder on my account. This meant that he was stranded in London without a ticket to get home (that had been in his wallet as well) and no means to buy one! So what I had to do was go to our local station and pay for a ticket for him, they would then contact Euston to say that it had been paid for and they would issue him with a ticket to get home - this did not go down well considering that I had had very little sleep!

I went to the station, explained the situation, and paid for the ticket - £73!! (An off peak return is about £37) Because of the situation, the ticket had to be a standard open single at £63 plus a £10 fee for making the arrangements. Needless to say this did not go down particularly well with me either, especially as I had to pay for it with my debit card rather than my credit card – luckily I had enough available balance to pay for it!

So to say that I was rather p****d off with OH would be putting it very mildly!!

Of course it was not his fault that his wallet was nicked but if he had got himself organised to catch the last train home it would not have happened. And of course HE SHOULD HAVE PHONED!!! And the other thing is that I ended up forking out extra money for things that I shouldn’t have needed to do.

It was OH’s mum’s birthday on Saturday and because OH did not have access to any of his money I ended up buying a card and present for her.

Then last night I sat down to check my internet banking – to make sure I hadn’t gone over my overdraft limit and also to check when one payment was due. I have not received my statement for my Halifax credit card and I knew the payment was due soon. I discovered that both it and the payment for the Littlewoods account were due by 25th Feb so really needed to be paid. Now both of these are what OH should be responsible for paying so I asked him to pay them today. He said that he couldn’t because he couldn’t get at his money. I am afraid that I really lost the plot with him! I went straight into my bank account and paid both.   Then I pointed out to OH how easy and quick it was to do and if he had ever got his a**e in gear to actually set up payments on his internet banking he could have done it instead of it having to be me yet again!!

Then I stormed off upstairs! OH followed my up and we had a really serious talk about how he badly needs to get himself organised and that we are supposed to be a team and he really needs to help me and help himself instead of leaving it all to me!! I think it has hit home! I have set him one particular task to do this week – it is part of a very large task which because of its overwhelming nature he hasn’t touched yet, so I have suggested that he breaks it down into smaller more manageable stages, that he might actually get done!! Once he makes a start I am sure it will get easier and take the pressure off a bit.

Anyway, he we are at Monday and I am back at work. OH is not working until Thursday so today he is going to pay some Avon money into my bank account for me, going to see his Mum (we were both too tired on Saturday – slept most of the day – and yesterday and I had a dreadful headache for most of the day yesterday, also OH tried a few times to phone her to see if she was in and she wasn’t), and tidy the house (I was too tired and too headachy over the weekend to do it).

Tonight I really must get my Avon books ready to go back out and put them out again.

Oh well, I suppose I had better do some work now. Bye all!

  • Oh, poor you, what a weekend! Hopefully OH is trying to get back in your good books and you have a lovely shining house (and properly clean, not just man-clean as my OH would do!) and your dinner made when you get home.

    (BTW, go on, name names!!)

He is trying to get back in my good books - last night he was looking on t'internet for teaching courses. Looks like he's found one too so he is planning on doing his application for it.

Also he had cleaned and tidied the living room by the time I got home, and loaded the dishwasher. It's a start!! Pigs will fly before he manages properly clean rather than man-clean but everything helps!

Dinner made? You are joking! But I did make something really simple - they had chicken and veg pies from the freezer (Sainsburys Basics) and I had a cauliflower cheese grill from the freezer, with baked potatoes and sweetcorn. Yum!

  • Yawn! Hello all! Feeling rather bleary eyed today – I didn’t go to bed very early last night as I was sat with OH looking at teaching courses on the internet.

I had the most horrendous headache yesterday which came and went all day (and I have still got it today). It came on again just as I was leaving work to go home. I got on my first train O.K. and then when I got to New Street and went to catch my connecting train I discovered that it was packed to the rafters – I don’t tend to get on a train anyway if it means I’ve got to stand, but the thought of having to stand on my recovering broken foot with an absolutely pounding headache… no way Jos!!!!!

I phoned OH and he said ‘go and sit down and have a cup of tea’ – this is not something I would normally do being all MSE/DFW and all, but I was persuaded! So I went and bought a cup of tea – the sort you get in a paper cup with a lid. When I first started drinking it I thought how weak it was, then when I got to the bottom and found the tea bag it was very very strong – why couldn’t they have…(a) stirred the tea so that it was brewed properly (b) used the sort of teabag with a string on it so I could have swished it around or (c) provided a spoon or similar so I could stir it? As it was I did not even know the teabag was in there! Oh well, these things are sent to try us!

Went to Aldi on the way home and bought a few essentials – I discovered on Sunday night that I had no tinned tomatoes left in my cupboard. This is absolutely unheard of – I have never not got tinned tomatoes! Anyway then I staggered home and was plied with cups of tea by my boy – under sufferance of course!!

I was going to put my Avon books back out last night but I felt too ill. I have got them ready and OH is going to put them out for me today.

I managed to do all except one of my remaining deliveries at work yesterday – should be able to do the last one tomorrow. Also my neighbour has now got most of hers in – just one more to go I think! I can’t remember whether I mentioned it but I have also got a mystery one still outstanding – it came in without an address on and we don’t know who it belongs to. It is one that DS collected and he couldn’t remember which house he got it from (this was on one of the days that OH and DS went out to collect books so I could stay at home and rest my foot) but we thought it was one of two houses. It turns out that it is neither so we are now at a loss as to who it belongs to. I have printed off a note to go out with all my books (in true DFW style I did it at work) to see if I can trace the owner! Serves them right for not putting a name or address on the order form!!

My weight is still not going down – it stayed the same for about 4 weeks and has now gone up a pound. That might be something to do with the jam doughnuts on valentine’s day and the battenburg cake over the weekend – they were on special offer in Iceland when I went in there on Saturday. It’s not going to get any better this week as it is my birthday on Friday (I shall have to bring cakes to work) and we are going to a wedding evening do on Saturday.

In other news…I have now laid aside the trainers and I am now wearing walking shoes to get to work and my smart shoes at work. It feels very odd I can tell you, and my foot aches. But this also means I can wear some different clothes now – I am actually wearing a skirt!! I have also started to walk to the station and back again, instead of catching the bus. As I have been wearing my walking shoes for this my foot hasn’t actually felt too bad while doing it – until I take my walking shoes off that is! I suppose it is going to take a while longer for it to recover fully so I am just going to have to live with that.

Oh well, I suppose I had better do some work. I was hoping for a relatively lazy day but I don’t think it’s going to happen!

    Bye all!

  • Hi pigginskint x

Really sorry to hear what happened to your OH the weekend, i would have been livid with him if it was me and "pay back" would last weeks in this household!!! lol

I know what you mean too about "man cleaning". When i am at work on a sat and it is my OHs day off it is his responsibility to do the housework and when i have returned from work its just about passable, but i know for a fact that he leaves it all to do in the last 20 mins before i come home as i have caught him out on a couple of occasions when i have returned half an hour early and nothing, and i mean NOTHING has been done!!! x When i do my housework it takes me 2 hours to do!!

I still cant guess who the famous person is, any chance of another clue? Im soooo nosey!! :rotfl:

Now if that's who i think it is, I saw him on a daytime chat show one day last week and thought he was lovely!
  • Oh oh oh oh oh oh!!! Ive just worked out who it is, been trying to think who it might be for the last hour!! lolx

I should have worked it out earlier really cus i think hes yummy!!!;) xxx
