Hi All
Phew! What a busy day I am having today but I am actually feeling quite O.K. about it as I feel like I am having quite a productive day, rather than just chasing my tail!!
Thank goodness it’s Friday! I am so glad this week is over. I plan to stay in the house pretty much all weekend, apart from when I have to do Avon tomorrow afternoon. My foot has been really complaining so I think I need to rest it as much as possible for the next couple of days.
Talking of Avon, I managed to get nearly all my deliveries done last night – only one person wasn’t in. I think that must be a record! I got all my books out as well. I seem to be doing quite well with it at the moment and quite a few new customers seem to be coming my way. My next door neighbour takes 2 books with her to work and I let her keep them for quite a while now – I just write on the top of the order form what date I shall be doing my order (which is actually about 2 days before I really do it!) so she just gives me them back before then. Obviously the longer she has them, the more people get to see them and the more orders I am likely to get as a result. This last campaign she had 5 separate orders (well, 6 actually because was one was for 2 people). Also one of my friends at work is leaving and a friend of hers does Avon – my friend has been getting orders off other members of staff and as she is now leaving she has introduced me as their new Avon lady – that was worth about £50 sales this time. Also another friend at work started having a book off me a few weeks ago and has ordered a few times now and apparently now 2 other members of staff spotted the book she has and asked to have it after her. This is good for increasing my income!!
OH will be back home some time tonight – hooray! I have really missed him as he has been away since Wednesday evening. It will be late though so unfortunately I will have to spend the evening on my own as DS will be going to his Dad’s this weekend.
Let’s see, what other news have I got? Well, it’s only 5 days until payday – woohoo! And even without the Avon money, I should have enough to survive until then – there is only one more bill payment to make and there is more than enough available balance to cover it. Thank goodness!
I think that's all for now. Bye all!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi PS, how' your foot? Hope you're better. Lenny
Thanks for asking! It's improving slowly though I am having to keep myself dosed up with pain killers, I am having to wear trainers because it's the only thing I can get on, there is still a definite lump on my foot and swelling around the ankle bone (though the rest of the swelling has gone) and I have still got a lot of beautiful bruising all over my foot.
I need to see my GP at some point - I didn't get chance this week but I hope to go next week. But I have been chatting with quite a few of my work colleagues - a lot of whom happen to be doctors or medical scientists - and it would appear that my guess about what is the matter with my foot is probably right, i.e. a torn ligament.
Walking is getting easier but I have to be careful not to do too much of it!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Another busy but productive day today – I quite like days like that!
I am very tired today but that is my own fault – staying up very late last night giving OH yet another thrashing at Scrabulous on Facebook! We were nearly finished so I thought I might as well stay up a bit longer and finish him off – unfortunately I overlooked how long it takes for OH to play his turn. He tends to play about with whatever letters he’s got left to try to find a valid word – very irritating!
Anyway, OH was only working this morning so he should have been paying my Avon money into my bank account for me this afternoon. This will partly make for the lack of housework that he did this weekend – all he managed to do was to put the Christmas tree and decorations in the loft (finally)! I had asked him to do several other things but all he managed to get done was sleep, play on the laptop, soak in the bath, read and watch telly. I, on the other hand, did loads of washing including drying – a combination of the airer, tumble drier and radiators – sorting out dirty clothes and clean ones, put loads of the clean ones away, put several loads through the dishwasher, did some washing up as well, cooked all the meals, most of the drinks, sorted out the recycling, took my life in my hands venturing into DS’s bedroom to find his dirty clothes, emptied bins, tidied my side of the bed, did DS’s lunch for today and ironed mine and DS’s clothes for today. Bear in mind that I was planning to rest my foot as much as possible this weekend! Oh, I nearly forgot, OH did help me do Avon on Saturday afternoon but didn’t come with me when I went out again yesterday afternoon because he happened to be asleep! If he knows what’s good for him he will have done some jobs today – otherwise I will not be very pleased!
I mentioned that last week OH had been filming a commercial. I said that it was for a product only men use – how wrong was I?! The product is a version that is used by women only (not the same as the men’s version). I can’t say more than that as I really will give it away!
It looks like there might be another one in the offing. He got asked to do one, one day this week (I forget which) but he couldn’t do it because he is working that day – a commitment that he can’t miss. However, the message has come back that they are still interested – so here’s hoping!
DS came back from his Dad’s last night with the food that he cooked at school about 2 weeks ago! I asked him about it last week as we hadn’t actually seen it. He said that he thought he had eaten it but on closer interrogation it would appear that he didn’t – I asked him whether he was sure that he had eaten it or whether it was rotting somewhere. He decided that it was probably rotting somewhere! As he now does his cooking (when he does – they don’t do it every week ) on a day that he goes to his Dad’s that meant that I provided the ingredients but the place it was rotting was at his Dad’s. I phoned him up just before he was due to come back yesterday evening so they had chance to look for it and bring it back (I wanted my pot back!) so he brought it home. Needless to say, he brought the pot back complete with mouldy pasta with tomato sauce and grated cheese. Yuk! I made him empty it out and wash the pot afterwards!
I think that’s all for now. Home time soon and I think it likely I shall sleep on the train today! Definitely an early night for me tonight!
Bye all!

Hi All
Well, I don’t know where the day has gone today – it seems to have flown by.
I had 3 lots of lunches to sort out this morning as OH was at the agency office all day – mine, OH’s and DS’s. If I don’t make OH some coffee and sandwiches and physically put them by his bag he will do one or more of 4 things (a) forget them (b) not bother making any (c) spend lots of money buying some from a shop (d) starve!
DS is at his Dad’s tonight. This would normally mean that I would walk over to take his stuff to him (inhalers etc) but as my foot is still painful I have said that they will have to come and fetch it instead. I am still having to get the bus into town and back because it hurts to walk too much – actually it is particularly sore today for some reason.
It’s pay day tomorrow – Thank God!! Also my Sainsbury’s shopping is coming tomorrow night – quite a big order this time as I have stocked up. Also there were lots of good things on special offer – cheaper or the same price as they would be at Iceland – so I decided to get a few.
I am working slightly late today as I was late in this morning and I have now used up all the extra flexi hours I accumulated 2 weeks ago on the days I was able to work. Home soon though!
I really must do something about the memory on the laptop at home – perhaps I will do that tonight. It is really driving us mad now! I posted a query ages ago on the techies board and got some good advice and the further discussion on the thread allayed some of my fears – I just need to get round to sorting it out!!
Anyway, I think that’s all for now. Bye all!

Woohoo! Pay Day!! :j
My Sainsbury's order is coming tonight - nearly £170 worth. But it shouldn't need much topping up during the month and February is a short month anyway!
In honour of the imminent arrival of more food, last night I actually defrosted my (virtually empty) freezer - how organised is that?!
On the down side - my foot is really hurting today but I have managed to get an appointment with my doctor this afternoon, so that's good news.
Anyway, just got to slurp a cup of tea and then I'm off to a meeting, so will probably update more later.
Bye all!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
I went to see my doctor last night – very interesting, I am glad that I went. I was right in thinking that I have torn a ligament in my foot but it is actually worse than that. He said that he didn’t care what the xray said, there is definitely a break in there. Apparently it is something called a microfracture which, as he explained, doesn’t tend to show up on an x-ray because it is hidden – it needs an MRI scan to spot it. He did a google search while I was there so that he could show me a picture – apparently what happened was that as the ligament tore it also pulled a piece of bone away. No wonder it hurts so much!
Given the evidence presented, he is sure about this – that fact that it is still painful after 2 weeks, I am still hobbling, it is still swollen because there is still fluid in the joint and there is still bruising there. If it was just a torn ligament I should have been O.K. after about 10 days. It is going to be at least another 2 weeks before it is better – so I shall have to continue wearing trainers for at least that length of time (because it is the only thing I can get on!).
As for management and treatment, apparently I have been pretty much doing all the right things – this was my concern, that perhaps I was doing things that I shouldn’t be doing and not doing things that I should. I have been trying to minimise how much I am walking, keeping it elevated when I can – dr said that I definitely need to do this on an evening and he would like me to do it on a lunchtime as well. I have been taking painkillers, alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen – which he also approved of. I have got to avoid walking on uneven ground, e.g. slopes and cobbles, which I have been doing anyway because it hurts! It doesn’t need plastering – good job really! He has given me some exercises to do – I have been trying to rotate it and stretch it etc but he wants me to spell out the letters of the alphabet – he said that once I get to about ‘E’ I will lose the will to live so I should do swear words instead! What else… oh yes, apparently there is some evidence that applying heat helps because it increases the blood flow which flushes away some of the debris. He also told me that some of the household chores will have to slide for a bit – so OH will have to pull his finger out a bit more to help me!
So all in all, I appear to have done a really good job on it!!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Well I have come over to DFW rather earlier than I planned today - my current addiction to puzzlebee on facebook has been thwarted this afternoon because it keeps saying 'error loading page' argggghhhhh! I've done 2 puzzles today and I am getting withdrawal symptoms!
I am having a fairly lazy day today as I need to rest my foot to allow it time to recover - it is very sore again today. It is not hard to rest today as I am very tired - all I have done so far housework-wise is a few loads of washing and I don't plan to do much else.
OH and DS are going out shortly to my Avon for me. They also went into town this morning so that OH could pay his cheque in for the work that he has done for the last 2 weeks. OH also took some of his birthday money to spend (it is his birthday on Monday and a card came this morning which was already opend and happened to have some money in!) and DS took the remainder of his birthday money and his Christmas money to spend. They came back with a playstation game each - DS got a spyro game and OH got another spongebob game to add to the joint collection. No prizes for guessing what OH is currently doing and has been doing since he got back!
As OH got paid yesterday we decided to have a takeaway - for the first time in several weeks I might add! We had Indian (again a very occasional treat) and I only managed to eat my starter so I had my curry for lunch today.
DS has been very helpful today and has put the recycling out, put his clean clothes away and made cups of tea. Yesterday he also loaded the dishwasher for me which unfortunately was not entired successful - for some reason he decided to lie all the cups and glasses on their sides! OH unfortunately did not check before running it so they will need doing again.
Oh well, at least they tried!
Bye for now!PigginSkint's debt free diary
