I knew there was something I missed! Did I mention that my payrise had gone through? Well my August paypacket was substantially larger than my July one - I am not sure exactly (because I can't find my notebook) but I think my take home pay is about £80 more a month! Woohoo!!!:j :j :jPigginSkint's debt free diary

This months Barclaycard statement had a note on it saying as a goodwill gesture thingy because of the floods no payment was needed this month and if you paid late there would be no late payment charges - perhaps yours will do the same.
Glad you had a good holiday and welcome back :-)Sealed pot challenge 822

Hi All
Well I didn’t do any of the jobs that I planned to do last night – bad girl!Went home via Aldi because we needed a few bits and pieces and when I got home we watched a Harry Potter film on DVD (DS has finally started reading the books and as he has just finished the 2nd one we decided to watch the film version of it). Then we ate dinner, I made something for my lunch today, loaded the dishwasher and set it going, did some washing up, ironed my clothes for today and then went to bed!
Egg Money Manager is still not showing any of my accounts other than my Egg card itself – they all show ‘Error’. Highly annoying!
Don’t know how much ‘little red book searching’ I will get done tonight. I’ve got to collect my Avon books in and I need to get DS’s stuff ready for school as it is first day back tomorrow.
I can actually do some ironing tonight now that OH has bought a new ironing board, to replace the one he broke. Grrrr!! The day before we went away camping we walked into town to do some bits and pieces and I decided to fall off the edge of a kerb – very clever. It hurt a bit when I first did it and swore quite a bit but then I was all right. I then managed to walk round town and back home again, for about 4 hours, and it was absolutely fine. Then I took my shoes off – within about ½ hour it was absolute agony and I couldn’t put any weight on it. OH had to fish all the camping gear out of the shed and then I had to do my ironing sitting down with my foot up on the sofa with a pack of frozen veg on it ( I took some paracetamol as well). OH’s idea of lowering the ironing board was to put his hand on top of it (it was already up) and push it down. I managed to do my ironing O.K. and then informed OH he could do his own – my back was aching because of the awkward angle I was sitting at – and went to bed. I don’t know what he did then but I heard the cursing from upstairs! He had to do his own with the thing flat on the floor! :rotfl:
What is most annoying about having to buy a new one is that up until a few weeks ago we had 2 ironing boards – we still had OH’s from when he moved in with me a few years ago. I said that it was silly to have 2 so we got rid of one – typical!!!
Anyway, I suppose I had better get on – after 3 weeks off I have got absolutely loads to catch up on.
Bye for now!PigginSkint's debt free diary

One other thing I forgot. This month's major task is to get cheaper buildings and contents insurance as I know I must be paying way over the odds because I seem to be paying nearly 4 times as much as my next door neighbour.
This time I am going to start early so I don't run out of time - my renewal date is 1st October.
First things first is to phone my current provider as ask what they reckon the rebuild cost is for my house - it was the lack of this particular snippet of info that scuppered me last time.
As a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club I can also ask them for a quote - I have heard from other members who said that they had a cheaper quote from them than from anyone else. Definitely worth looking into.PigginSkint's debt free diary

Pigginskint - if you do your buildings & contents seperately it will cost a little more but you'll get 2 lovely lots of cash back from quidco!!!!! Worked for me! And Dad ended up in credit as his 2 cash backs were more than the premiums (which still confuses him

Hi All
I don’t know how much sense anyone is going to get out of me today as I have an absolutely stinking headache.
I have been to physio this morning – the last one. I have now been discharged but I have got to go back and see my G.P. to see what the next course of action is – I still haven’t been to get the results of my x-ray yet!
Still no jobs done last night – too busy getting DS ready for school this morning and nursing aforementioned headache which started yesterday evening.
Tonight I must do my Avon order so I don’t know how much else I will get done – especially if this headache lingers.
Think I will do the bare minimum today (and anything urgent) just to get through and then go home as early as possible.
Time for more paracetamol...

Hi All
Last Wednesday’s bad headache escalated into the migraine from hell on Thursday – the worst one I have ever had. I was flat on my back on my bed all day – our room isn’t very dark so I either had a wet flannel or one of OH’s black t-shirt’s over my eyes. The pain was so bad it woke me up at about 5am and I didn’t fall asleep on the night until about 3am. On Friday when I woke up it was a lot better but it was still lingering – I was O.K. until I moved and then it just throbbed – and I felt like death warmed up. So needless to say I didn’t go to work on Thursday or Friday – just what I needed after 3 weeks off! I have worked out that about 4 different triggers combined last week (1) time of the month – there seems to be a strong hormonal element to my headaches (2) working on a computer for the first time in weeks with not enough breaks from looking at my screen (3) I was very stressed last week because of all the work that I have got to do (4) I wasn’t wearing my gumshield at night which prevents me from getting pain when I grind my teeth at night – some nights I just can’t bear to have it in because it annoys me.
Anyway, of course I have now got my boss on my back about it again so I need to make sure I am doing everything possible to stop getting ill so that she hasn’t got a stick to beat me with. This means I need to go back and see my GP and see what he says.
On the money front, I have now found my little red book so I have been able to update it. Still haven’t updated my spreadsheet – bad girl! I might try and do that tonight or at least write the figures in my notebook so I can update my spreadsheet at work tomorrow. Egg Money Manager still isn’t showing anything other than my Egg card and my Halifax online is not showing any of my credit cards at the moment – grrr! What’s the point in having these online accounts if you can’t actually see them!
Had an expensive night on Saturday. My Dad has just had a milestone birthday so we decided to take him out for a meal … at Frankie and Benny’s. I’d forgotten how expensive that place could be! Dad paid for the wine and my brother paid for his own meal and half of the cost of my Dad’s (we had agreed to split Dad’s between us). Still cost us about £50 though! Eek! Oh well, it doesn’t happen very often (and won’t be happening again for a while, I can tell you!!)
Need to give OH another nudge to set up his online access to his bank account – he will need this to pay off the Egg bill as we don’t have paper statements. He tried to do it last weekend but the system was down. It really bugs me sometimes how disorganised he is with money – it’s a good job I’m in charge! I discovered last week that he has been keeping his bank statements in a carrier bag and his payslips are all over the place. So last week I happened to wander into the stationery shop on the campus and they had a good deal on box files, so I bought him 2. Needless to say they are still in the carrier bag I brought them home in but at least it is a start!!!
My poor old savings account is starting to look a little bit the worse for wear after the summer holidays, birthday presents etc. It looks like I am going to have to transfer some money from my ISA very soon – certainly before Christmas. Unless some miracle happens and OH finds a new and reasonable source of income from somewhere! I shall keep updating him at every possible moment on the state of my finances and so guilt trip him into doing something about it! Hee hee hee! :rotfl:
Anyway, I think that’s all for now. I am going out at lunchtime to pay the money that Dad and bruv gave me on Saturday into my account and then that can go straight towards the Egg bill.
Ooh and Avon delivery is due tomorrow which means I should be able to pay some more money in before the end of the week.
Tara for now!PigginSkint's debt free diary
