Morning all, something crossed my mind on the way to work this morning and I thought it was worth posting.

When I took out my mortgage I had to take a mortgage protection policy and was paying around £22 a month for it. Last year when I made my big overpayment I asked for it to be re-calculated and it was reduced to around £11 per month. Having paid off a further £14k during the course of last year I asked for it to be adjusted again in January this year and it has now come down to £6 per month. It's certainly worth thinking about if you are paying off the mortgage faster than expected. A bit more for the savings pot anyway

Have a good day everyone, AG :D

    Hi ATT

Can't believe it's so long since I posted!! Where does the time go?

Not been very good on saving for my overpayments recently - mind you I did have a week in Tenerife in May and I'm off to Kos with my sister for a week next week so it's not difficult to understand why! I would say though that if I hadn't already made huge inroads in the mortgage those choices wouldn't be there as I wouldn't have the extra cash around so it's nice to take a step back and enjoy the earlier efforts a bit. I will get back on track and hopefully make another overpayment in September (if not before!!).

I must catch up on the diaries to give me a kick up the bum!! Sounds like a good thing to do from a sunbed in Kos!!

Thanks for stopping by - you are my conscience calling :-)

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine (at last!!)

    Hi AG

Good to here from you and I know what you mean by where does the time go to :o

By now I would think you are back from Kos so hope you had a lovely time, great to see that you are balancing the OP'ing with living as well, and as you say, if it wasn't for the OP's etc you wouldn't be able to do this so win win I say

PS, who would have thought we'd still be talking about lovely weather two weeks on, amazing!

    Regards

    Hi ATT

Kos was great - I can certainly not complain that I am not living - I told myself that every day when I was having my pre dinner drink!!

Should be back on track in August and planning another overpayment after pay day (so hard not to wish your life away for each pay day isn't it!!).

Onwards and downwards and long may our lovely summer last.

  • Been AWOL again but I have just sent a letter to the bank making an overpayment of £4k on the main mortgage so as soon as I have confirmation from them that they have done it I will update my signature and also the 2013 spreadsheet.

Is good to get back on track again, hopefully the main mortgage will be wiped out by the end of the year, I'm not convinced I'm going to make my revised date of April 2014 for them both but I won't change it yet - best to keep that goal in mind and hope the boss feels generous at Christmas (sorry for mentioning the C word!).

    Best wishes to everyone.

Home from work now and I've checked the figures on my own spreadsheet, the bank have confirmed receipt of my email and I've dropped the letter into the branch so am updating my signature before they actually process the payment which should be tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Off to update the spreadsheet now and colour in some more bricks in my I own this much of my house picture!

Thanks for stopping by to say hello MCI - it's encouraging to know I'm not talking to myself (for a change!) :D
