Anna Glypta - I think I'm turning into my Mum too. I never used to understand why she would get annoyed if something she bought regularly went up by 9p or 12p...I'd think "its just a few pence"...now I'm regularly moaning about price increases!!!
Home cooking is the best, I batch cook a lot and freeze it all, so handy to know dinner will be ready five minutes after I get in from work 0 0

Pay day this week , credit card bill paid off in advance of wages coming into the account and an extra £500 added to the savings account towards the next overpayment. Quite jealous of everyone who is able to pay off bits and pieces directly to their mortgages but I'll just have to take control of this "mortgage envy" and satisfy myself with the savings pot for the time being. , credit card bill paid off in advance of wages coming into the account and an extra £500 added to the savings account towards the next overpayment. Been quite well behaved on the spending front this week - not quite managing not to go to the shops at all BUT I am only buying what's on the list, or whoopsies if they are on the "keep an eye out for bargains list". New freezer is now in operation so it's great to know that I have the space for the extra bargains (have to say that I go into the shop now and think of Tilly's bargainous purchases which makes me think of Mike Myers in Wayne's World dude!!).
So far this week have had home made soup every day at work for lunch and scrummy home made ready meals for dinner - I even turned down the offer of a free meal at my Mum's last night as I didn't want to waste what I had taken out of the freezer already.
Bit more difficult this weekend as I will be dog and child sitting for a friend until Tuesday which almost always makes me spend too much money in the supermarket getting things that I wouldn't bother getting when I am at home. I'm going to try and take some of my freezer items with me so at least I know what I am eating - expect there will be things in for the others. Can't wait to get home again and back to my new regime - I'm a real home body anyway so it's throws me quite a bit not being at home (well unless I'm sat in the sun somewhere hot!) :j4 February 2014 - Mortgage Free

Hi AG, sounds like you are vey much under control. Good luck dog sitting over the weekend.
I am on the look out for bargainous chicken, I am going to make chicken kebabs for a big party so want to get reduced chicken, prepare, put in the marinade then freeze. That way it will be ready to pop on to the skewers with veg when defrosted. Happy hunting

I have a savings pot and just intend to pay it off every month if I can. I too am a home bird and can't bear to be out of routine, it is such an upheaval!
Tilly have you thought about Costco when they have special discount the chicken is cheap and tasty 0 0

Yes it is an upheaval - can never quite believe how much stuff I end up having to take just for a few days. I suppose if I was being REALLY frugal I would pack up all of my washing and do all my laundry at their house whilst I am there (!) and make use of the AGA and do some batch cooking. Bit scared of the AGA actually but I'm back for a week in August just looking after the dogs this time so I may plan a bit better and work on that when I am there - need to do some AGA investigations as it could be a good opportunity - any help by those in the know gratefully received.
They have a pool so I can only imagine how nice it would feel to be lying by the pool (if summer ever comes) having walked the dogs and knowing I have a load of future freezer supplies cooking away

Hi AG, no idea how to use an aga at all, but I am now praying for a heat wave so you can have a swim and sunbathe. Tilly x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Well I can recommend NOT checking out the long range weather forecast - next 2 weeks the lowest % chance of rain is 40% :mad:Tilly_MFW_in_6_YRS wrote: »Hi AG, no idea how to use an aga at all, but I am now praying for a het wave so you can have a swim and sunbathe. Tilly x
Here's hoping it picks up for next time Ana :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort Mortgage Balance = £0 Mortgage Balance = £0 "Do what others won't early in life so you can do what others can't later in life"0 "Do what others won't early in life so you can do what others can't later in life"0

Oh GG, I am sick of the rain now. The dogs looked like they walked in the sea, not the park when we came home this morning 2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek: 2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

            Hi Anna
aga cooking is fun We haven't got one (on my dream list!) but have stayed in properties which have had them several times. The thing is not to be scared of it and give it a go. I found them great for main meals (cooking for up to 12 at a time) but didn't master cakes in them (although managed pudding-y things like crumbles) We haven't got one (on my dream list!) but have stayed in properties which have had them several times.
