did you not check price on display before filling or notice total excellium on the pump handle and pump
no I didn't: I looked at the unleaded price on the big board outside, drove up to the pump and picked up the unleaded pump handle, when I began filling up I noticed the lcd display showing 6p more per litre - turned round and double checked the big board and confirmed it was different so stopped filling up and went into the pay station where the aformentioned conversation took place.0 -

you didnt pick up the unleaded pump you picked up the excellium unleaded pump and didnt check price on lcd display before filling0 -
Sorry but I don't believe you. I don't think I have ever seen a garage that advertises the price of it's premium fuels on the board, and therefore everywhere that sells premium fuel does so at a price that is not displayed before you enter the filling station. Now if the price at the pump supplying regular fuel doesn't match the price on the board that is an issue, but I don't think anyone is claiming that is the case. This is simply caveat emptor, if you don't like the price don't buy.
The local Waitrose displays the price of it's premium petrol on the board, and they are often the cheapest for diesel (was selling for 144.9 this afternoon compared to 146.9 in Tesco a couple miles away on the same road)0 -

is that a question or a statement? no, there was no price on the lcd display until I put the nozzle in and started filling. As unleaded pumps are usually green, I picked up the green pump which said unleaded on in large letters, after the exchange in the pay station I examined the pump again and the word "excellium" or something like that was in smaller lettering before it which I had not noticed before, on account of there being no display anywhere relating to a different form of unleaded, nor was the price displayed anywhere before filling up.
It is evident that you seem to think this was my fault, which I would accept that I should have seen it was a different form from the handle which I didnt, but overall I think the fact the price wasn't displayed anywhere and the pumps were highly similar (incidentally, on that pump there was only excellium and diesel, there weren't two different types of unleaded on there) would catch many people out.
I hope this explains it clearly enough for you.0 -
Err it dose say on the pumps what your buying I just looked at that Total station on google streetview and the back pumps have labels on them saying what it is dispensing and the nozel has a label on it saying premium so it's a case of if you cant read or see the lable before you fill up my mate at the optitions might want to see you
IT's not total they don't own the garage normally someone owns the garage and then sells the petrol for total under contract it's up to the garage owner to sort out his signage not total so complain to him non total a lot of people think the fuel companys own the petrol stations well shell do but the other are independents that Total garage could be a BP garage the next week then Esso a year later the owner decided what companys fuel to stock
So my mate whith his sports cat but only runs on super unleadded your saying don't fill up don't buy petrol some people need super unleadded and using petrols like Tesco momentum BP ulitmate and Total Excellium ETC has saved my mum money she gets more MPG and it lasts longer in the tank and gives better peformance so stop moaning and try it on a long journey you might actually save money
So basicly your saying to all theose sports car owners and performance car owners like those who have Evos or imprezas which run on super unleadded only you can't fill up your can garages should not sell this petrol0 -
OH unless you actually work at a petrol station like I do NOT all the pumps are connected to the same tanks in our Tescos the front pumps run of tanks 1 and 2 and the back pumps on tanks 3 and 4 one unleadded tank supplys front pumps and one back pumps and one tank for momentum yes some small garages have one unleadded tank and one diesel for all the pumps but bib ones don't my shell has 8 tanks.
So unless the owner of that total garage gets all new pumps which take 4 nozels like shell have then there is nothing you can do as old style pumps can only dispence 2 types of fuel0 -

The point is pretty obvious, the OP is trying to warn other forum members of "sharp" practice by Total.

IIRC the fancy stuff is labelled Yellow at Total ?0

If Waitrose ever decide to expand further in Scotand than their current 4 stores (none of which have fuel stations as far as I know, although I haven't been to the Glasgow ones) then I'll watch out for that.0
