Dont see the problem here, people can make they're own choices and if they want to pay £15(thats £13 id pay for mine) for they're report then so be it but they can cancel at any time.

But there isn't a choice. I don't want, out of consumer choice, to have anything to do with Experian who after all is a private company. I don't wish for them to hold or process any information about me.

I don't get a choice though it seems. I am saddled with them regardless. The council automatically pass my address to them from the electoral roll form. I don't seem to get a say in that. The only way to combat this is to put a different name on the form and you shouldn't have to do that.

Also if I choose to have any form of legal credit then my account - including current account with my own money in it - is also passed onto them. I dont agree to this or want this but don't seem to get a "choice".

I don't like River Island so don't shop there. I don't like Experian and dont wish to have any involvement with them but cant seem to get that choice.

So because I don't get a choice about my data being held with Experian by proxy I don't get a choice about having to not pay the to access the data I don't want them to have in the first place.

And as the Experian man says it may make obtainig credit easier by being in their systems. Wooopsy doo dah for those that are in the market for easy credit and also agree to this. There should also be the option to "opt out" of the CRA system by choice even if that means that obtaining credit is harder and you have to provide your own proof of residence and financial standing.

In a nutshell: As I don't want Experian having any of my personal or financial information in their database I shouldn't need to pay £2 or £14.99 to them at all and that to me is where the CRA "rip off" lies.

I'd also like confirmation to the forum of the glitch.

Is it a glitch with the information fed into CreditExpert, or a glitch with the information that the lenders see ?

On a similar topic on Notice of Corrections and how you, the public, can use this facility to secure you Credit File and protect yourself from ID Theft. The cost; 3 letters, 3 envelopes and 3 stamps.

James Jones the Experian expert made some sweeping statements saying they (Experian) don't encourage these FREE systems but didn't say why?.

    Read the click here?

Forum readers still await replies to the questions posed to Mr Jones on this topic, which may in turn enlighten readers of this string.

Click here for questions put to Mr James Jones which remain unanswered.

We really would like a reply from Mr Jones (Experian) to how he has reached his conclusions.

    Thanks in advance.

But you don't have to pay any CRA for information if you don't want to. It's your choice if you do.

I've never paid to see my information, i don't need to.

But you are missing my point. I dont want them to have any of my private information PERIOD. But it seems I, and everyone else, get no choice in that and therefore get no choice if I do want to see what I dont agree to them having anyway. What if the information is wrong as was the case for me. I had to pay to see the wrong information. If they never had my information in the first place then they would never have had any wrong information and I would not have had to suffer a massive headache spending the good part of 4 months putting it right.

If the CRA's have incorrect information, it's been given to them by someone else.

If they did not have any of your information would you be content never to have any credit card or loan or mobile phone contract or any kind of credit again in the future.
If so just say next time you are asked to agree to a credit score on you - NO thank you and see how far you will go.

Millions upon millions of customers data is held perfectly correctly every day - why should it change just for your benefit?

I have no loans, no mortgage, no credit cards and a pay as you go mobile. I have no desire for any of those things. For me I would be quite happy to ask the CRA's to remove all trace of me from their systems.

So why do you need to see your information ? Or do you just like to moan about something that serves lots of people very well ?
