red flag by paypal payment

Yesterday evening I got a number of payments through and wrapped a couple of items in the evening. However in my paypal account on the main page one of the payments shows a red flag by it and says 'High risk' looking through the help system it says refer to notes on payment- but there are none. It looks like any other payment and says OK to send and fully eligible for seller protection.
I've just phoned paypal as this is a great time to call, you get through instantly, and was told the payment didn't appear to be at risk at all and it must be an error. They have assured me it is OK to send as I normally would, and item will go this morning. However has nayone else ever had this and did paypal tell you it was a glitch as well?
The buyer looks absolutely fine and the item is only around £8.

I had exactly the same thing on 1 sale yesterday.
I looked it up on the ebay forums and a member there had contacted paypal, they got the same answer as you (or was it you?) ,they didn't know what it was or how it appeared :eek:Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
Just copied this off the ebay boards....what are paypal fraud settings?
I also had this yesterday, I only noticed after logging into PayPal to do a part refund for someone else. A customer had the Red Flag alert, it was for a £2.25 transaction.
I phoned PayPal, and I was told it was because of my Fraud Settings, I asked if this customer had done lots of chargebacks, it was answered evasively, told it was to do with my settings and how to go in and check them.
Give that it was only £2.25 (inc postage, it was not worth sending Recorded Post, but, PayPal told me that a Chargeback costs them £50.00, and would cost me £14.00.
As this was my first alert and I thought it must be really high risk, I sent the item recorded post as I was worried this customer who was going to cost me another £14.00.Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -

If a bank recalls it as a chargeback, recorded delivery means nothing.
I had an item that was filed as a chargeback. Worth £48. I had sent it SD.
Chargeback came in, PayPal did their bit and asked for the proof. All this was supplied (along with the Feedback left by the buyer, but that adds no weight on to it as I discovered).
PayPal took that info, a few messages later and the bank had rejected the "evidence" and the chargeback remained and I got the extra fee of £14 to pay as well.0 -

Then you shoul dhave appealed as paypal were not following their own rules. (assuming item showed as full seller protection)
A INR needs proof of delivery to be won by seller a bank recalled payment only needs proof of pstage.
I have just won a bank recalled payment case and had a full release of funds and no charge made as I could prove postage. It took 18 days though to get my money back, but at least I knew I was covered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The chargeback was made December and it was the beginning of March after I had appealed and appealed that it was finally closed for good with me out of pocket. It should have had full protection, the address was ok to send to.
I frankly got sick and tired of speaking with people in the end.0 -

What reason were you given for having no seller protection?
Usual things would be that delivery showed as not delivered online when tracking number put into the system, not posted within 7 days , item not eligible item etc.
If you had full seller protection then you could not have lost- as you did lose they must have given reasons why you were not covered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. All they kept saying to me was the bank rejected my claims and there was nothing more to be done. Why this went around the seller protection I never fully grasped, despite talking to half of the staff at PayPal
They refused to budge despite my best efforts and throwing the seller protection stuff at them. As far as I was aware I had done everything correctly but I still got nowhere. Sometimes life is a bag crap and you have to move on.0 -

If the item was eligible, sent within 7 days to the address given in Paypal, then all you need is the certificate of posting. Without it, they won't uphold the chargeback. With it, they will reimburse you.0 -

Well I had everything needed and still got rammed. On this occasion their own rules were not used and they hid behind the bank decisions.0
