Phone them up on the 0800 number above and you can pay in over the phone.

Thanks, that's great, was stressing over nothing!

My gf has manually moved 2 direct debits to an unused account ready to switch to Nationwide. Just depends how long it takes them to action this.
Doesn't matter - once they have the account number and sort code of the account your switching they'll open the ISA. No need to wait for the switch to complete.

    Looking at post #235 http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=52420061&postcount=235

    The phone number is 0800 111 4420

Where did this number get pulled from? I didn't see it on their contact us section on their website.

I initially called 08457 302010 who then put me through to another department. I was then given that number by the person who opened my account.

Oh well, hopefully either passbook will turn up or online access before Friday. I know it's not the end of the world, just a bit annoying.

If the Flexclusive ISA has a sort code and account number you should be able to pay in on-line irrespective of whether the ISA appears in on-line banking or not

If you are wondering why the ISA isnt appearing on online banking then they have a new massage on the Report missing accounts section.

    Dont hold your breath though.

Everything about this ISA suggests it was a last minute decision to launch.

I don't really understand why it's so difficult for them to show the account on online banking.

Whatever the backend software is doing regarding creating a new account type, surely it's more difficult to create an account that is somehow different and can't be shown with the current banking software?

I mean this is the kind of bug where I would actually have to specifically write code to make it do it. It's not something that could happen by accident. Even if this account type was a last minute decision, how can it possibly be any different to any other account that can be shown by their internet banking? Don't they just create a new account type in a database, give it a name, interest rate, and bonus expiry date, and that's it?

I do wonder sometimes who runs these organisations :(

    It's a branched based account.

Once you've got the sort code and account number you can pay money in online but to get it out you need to pop in.

They've probably decided to try and increase footfall in the hope that people will buy other stuff when they go in.

No point moaning that a branch based account is exactly as described. The words you need to look for next time if you want an online account are "online".

... see that over there? That's the point. I think you missed it. :T

I know it's a "branch based account". I also know that Nationwide have online banking where all my other "branch based accounts" show up.

I know I need and will be sent a passbook. I know I need that passbook to withdraw money. I know I can make online payments to the account in order to pay money in.

Was I complaining about not being able to withdraw money online? Was I? Did I complain about having to go into a branch to open the account? Where did I say that in the post you quoted? Or did you just make that bit up?

The point is from a technical software perspective there is no reason whatsoever why this "branch based account" should be any different from all the other "branch based accounts" that show up successfully in their own online banking interface.

Jeeze ... some of you like making this hard work.:rotfl:

I note that one person said their passbook was handwritten; clearly, they are having some problems!

One of the reasons that Dunfermline Building Society (now part of Nationwide) collapsed, was because of serious problems with their new computer system. Savers frequently found that branch staff had to resort to manual methods.

Dunfermline had to write off almost £10 million.

    Shocking, isn't it?

I'm in the wrong job. I should be writing banking software because clearly the ones doing it now don't know what they are doing.
