    Agreed, mostly.

They use the terms "main" and "prime" as though they are synonyms when that is not the case at all.

Referring to a customers account being "prime" does make sense based on the stated requirements.

But that doesn't have any impact at all on whether it is a "main" account as far as the customer is concerned.

    If you look on here...

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/savings/cash_isa/flexclusiveisa/introduction.htm?intcmp=Intcmp_1207

You will see that Nationwide has a link entitled NATIONWIDE MAIN FLEXACCOUNT CUSTOMERS

Click on that link and it takes you to the eligibility criteria immediately below that link.

So, Nationwide appears to define 'MAIN' in terms of those eligibility conditions. As for the term prime, Nationwide do not appear to use it in relation to current accounts (at least in print), but do so in relation to their mortgages.

Certainly, when I spoke to telephone banking a few days ago, they used PRIME and MAIN interchangeably. The best thing to do is just ignore any talk of MAIN or PRIME as it only confuses prospective savers and just concentrate on the listed eligibility criteria.

Regarding the "main" or "prime" accounts discussion: all that counts are theFlexclusive ISA terms & conditions.

There is no mention whatsoever in these T&Cs of "main" or "prime" accounts.

    Relevant extract:
    1. The account is only available to individuals aged 18 or over who hold a Nationwide FlexAccount with a Visa debit card (not a cash card+) and:
      1. have been paying in £750 a month (excluding internal transfers) for the last three months; or
      2. complete an account transfer to us (from a non-Nationwide account) using our Account Transfer Service or have done so in the last four months, and
      3. who continue to hold a Nationwide FlexAccount with a Visa debit card (not a cash card+) and deposit at least £750 per month into the FlexAccount (excluding internal transfers) following the opening of the Flexclusive ISA.
    2. If you no longer meet the eligibility criteria we reserve the right to transfer the account to another ISA account within our range.

And the same applies to all the other Flexclusive offers, such as cashback credit card, discounted travel insurance, mortgage deals, and Flexclusive rates on savings - no mention of 'main' or 'prime' in the T&Cs

Bit of a downer if it gets pulled early May.

My gf has manually moved 2 direct debits to an unused account ready to switch to Nationwide. Just depends how long it takes them to action this.

My brother & sister, both being quite young, only have 1 direct debit each, so have both applied for a credit card with nationwide so they can set up a direct debit payment in order to switch them & all 3 can qualify via the switching process.

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it, my brother is the only one who qualifies via the £750 per month for the past 3 months criteria.

For those who've applied via phone, what number did you call & what are the hours of business for the phone number?

If you are wondering why the ISA isnt appearing on online banking then they have a new massage on the Report missing accounts section.
    Is it a Flexclusive ISA?
If it is a Flexclusive ISA we are currently unable to offer the facility to view the account online, however we are working hard to resolve this issue and Flexclusive ISA accounts will be available to view within the Internet Bank soon.
    Dont hold your breath though.

I got a similar reply from an online message, apparantely they are also experiencing problems with the passbooks! We still don't have ours and the reply to that was 'they will be sent as soon as possible'.

My passbook was sent by the branch that I applied for the ISA at with some details hand written in. If you applied over the phone then I guess they will be sent out in batches from Swindon.

Interest is backdated to the date that you applied (the passbook issued date printed on the inside the front cover it not the date of the deposit) and I suspect they are quite busy...

    Looking at post #235 http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=52420061&postcount=235

    The phone number is 0800 111 4420

Where did this number get pulled from? I didn't see it on their contact us section on their website.

We applied in branch so not really sure what the problem is, just a bit of a pain as hubby wants to pay in money on Friday but he's at work. If I had the passbook then I am fairly sure they would be ok with me paying money into his account (maybe not?) but without it I am guessing it might be more hassle.

I did ask if this would be a problem but that part of my message was ignored.

Oh well, hopefully either passbook will turn up or online access before Friday. I know it's not the end of the world, just a bit annoying.
