    Just received a call from a supervisor at Nationwide. They apologised for the misinformation. They acknowledge that consolidation of an existing Nationwide ISA into a Flexclusive ISA is not allowed.

    The supervisor did go on to say that they are hoping that on-line withdrawals would also be possible. Somehow I doubt this - as why have the expense of a branch-based account (with a book) if you then let customers take their money away so easily?

    Oh, and I did ask her what would happen if I submitted the consolidation form anyway? She said it may work and that stranger things have happened!

    Not that it makes a huge amount of difference, but the bonus periods have been extended. You should have received a letter about it.

    I got an email instead of a letter about the bonus extension.

    I think you can set options on how you wish to be notified on the on-line banking site.

    I don't mind using them for savings but I got sick of the poor counter service for a current account.

    I rarely visit any Nationwide branch. I opened a Co-op basic bank account just as a feed-in to the Nationwide account and can pay-in at my local Post Office 0.5 miles away rather than travelling 11 miles to the nearest Nationwide branch.

    So, I was quite pleased that I could open the Flexclusive ISA without even having to visit the branch - saves time and money!

    Update;
    £5640 has now left my Flexaccount, showing as an internal transfer - still waiting for the ISA account to show up online.

    Passbook arrived in the post this morning, with covering letter saying that I need to bring the book and some identification to the branch to update the signature section.
    Still nothing showing up online though!
  • Can anyone confirm they've been able to view their account online? I was in our local branch at 9am on Saturday morning to open one with a cash deposit, the passbook has come through the post today showing the deposit so I know the account is open but can't view it online!
    If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

    It's a strange one is this. Obviously they don't want transfers of money subscribed in previous tax years. But in general, at Nationwide, it's been possible to pay new money into an instant-access ISA and then move some of it to a different Nationwide ISA account within the year without it counting as a proper transfer.

    For those asking about viewing the account online, remember that their website says that it can take up to five working days for new accounts to show online.

    Even if you opened it on Saturday (the first day the account was available), the fifth working day is not until next Monday.

    I opened mine in branch on Saturday morning. Received passbook in post yesterday showing my opening credit dated 10th April (rather than 7th - but thats ok!) but like everyone else its not showing online yet.

    I know it's only pennies - - but why should they pocket the pennies instead of you? It's not your fault they didn't credit the money on the 7th, is it.
