Called Nationwide at 8.00am and just come off phone account set up and email confirmation received. Interest earned from today but may take 2 days to complete the admin and transfer money from my flexaccount. Well done Nationwide.

Am I reading this right IrishJohn? Do you mean to say you set up the ISA account over the phone? I thought you could only open it in a branch.

It would be very handy for me as I have my leg in plaster at the moment so have difficulties getting anywhere.

I've opened my over the phone in about 15 minutes, my girlfriend did the same in less time (she already has an ISA with NW).

If you have an account just call 0800 - 111 4420 and ask to open the ISA. The process is really quick, you just need your accnt nr, NI Number and to remembe two direct debits / standing orders that are leaving your account.

    Giruzz

Painless way of opening the account

Thanks for this number, I opened a new ISA this afternoon as I already have a flexaccount. It took about 10 minutes to get through but as it is a freephone number that didn't matter, the ISA was opened and completed within about ten minutes and the money should be transferred across tomorrow and interest credited from today.

I second that. Easy-peasy. 20mins wait this evening because its busy but all set up on the phone easily enough!

There are many posts in this thread that state that it is possible to open the account by phone instead of in branch.

.... and it even tells you that on Nationwide's web site. Gosh, it's difficult, isn't it?

Well I hadn't noticed that.Would you kindly point out where on the Nationwide's website?
  • Opened mine in branch on Saturday. I'm a flex account customer and I already had the funds sitting in my account. Just checked my online banking and the money is still in my flex account :/

Similar postion here although the funds were taken on Sat.

No new account showing though with the 'missing' £5640. Expect it'll show up in the next day or so and hopefully reflect that it was credited on Sat 7th.

If you can't you see the phone number to call, you have the same problem with your eyesight as I do, penny_pincha!

On the "How to apply" page for this ISA it does say quite clearly "To apply for a Flexclusive ISA you will need to visit your local Nationwide branch and pick up an application form."

But anyway, if you have an account just call 0800 - 111 4420 and ask to open the ISA
