The £750 requirement can be worked around if you have enough money in another bank. Just faster payment over enough to cover the shortfall, and then transfer it straight back.0

Or couldn't you just transfer some of your salary out somewhere else then back in ?0

I went into open one at a local branch today. The branch was quite busy so the (slightly harassed) receptionist said that no one would be able to see me today which was understandable.
The good news was that she was able to give me the application form to fill in and leave with a cheque which they would process on Tuesday.
The bad/odd thing was I dated the application form today - she made me cross that out and date the form as 10/4..

Slept in today so will have to go on Tues. Has anyone switched from another bank and managed to open it?
Will I get an account number and sortcode straight away so I can go home and FP in the full amount? Or does it need to go by cheque etc.0 -
Went to the branch just after 10, no-one in front of us so got the forms straight away and they were specific Flexclusive ISA forms.
Filled them in at a desk, handed them back and was told they would be processed today if they had time, but they had a pile of them. If not today, Tuesday, and the passbooks would be sent out or I could collect them if I wanted them in a hurry.
Money has gone from the FlexAccount, but ISA not showing yet.
Painless.
I had more hassle transferring the funds from LTSB Vantage accounts yesterday as their site kept kicking me out and I had to keep logging back in.0 -
I just wish i'd cycled the 1k right through all my accounts now. Easy saying that now though. doing the switching thing was too much hassle when there was no defined requirement to switch a set amount of DDs or SOs. It's great debating it on a forum & saying switch 2 DDs, but it never specified that on their site.
Still, you make your decisions & you stick by them. Santander @ 3.5% for me this year.0 -

Yes, I had to admit defeat on this one too and have gone with BM 4.05% fixed 2 years instead. I just couldn't face switching my main current account to my flex account, and having problems with the switched dd's and so's (which - with my luck - would happen!).0 -
I use Nationwide's online service weekly and although I have concerns with Barclays new service, it is still better and smoother than Nationwide's. The GUI seems to be designed better, Nationwide not so good. Santander is certainly the best by far on mobile phones, and their PC version is adequate, a bit like Nationwide's.
I have my main accounts with Barclays and recently opened FlexAccount with Nationwide and had mortgage with them for years. I also have Nat West accounts, Halifax account and Northern Rock Virgin saving accounts. All managed on-line.
I prefer to bank on-line too like MatLFC, and having used a number of different on-line facilities, I have had a lot of problems with the new Barclays on-line service. It is infuriating spending an hour or more on several occasions on their help line using an expensive 0845 number, when things don't work and the people on the help line don't seem to know what to do either. The worst was when I had spent 6 weeks researching where best to invest my money, setting up accounts and then on the day I did it had a transaction delayed because they wanted to check the authorisation because it was a large amount. It was to transfer the max allowance into a newly set up ISA.
Of the on-line facilities I have experienced I find the Nationwide the best, it is intuitive to use, and tell me what I want to know. Internal transactions go through instantly (but that is true of other I agree) but then transactions go through quickly to non-Nationwide accounts and altogether I have had no problems with them.
I haven't had any experience of Santander but then I have read of other problems with them from this site so wouldn't want to chance it.0
