Living in a semi rural location I saw an old guy yesterday, at the supermarket, loading his hopping into his tractor.

I wonder if that would fare as an "essential" farming journey?

Theres probably a difference in smell .

I used to stop at the Park Inn at Heathrow and the smell in the reception/lobby was most noticeable - in a "nice" kind of way. Guess there is probably a difference between turboprop and "jet".

I bet the car would fly with jet A-1 in the tank.

The red in red diesel is just a die. A lot of firms die their diesel various colours as an anti-theft device.
As VOSA dip the main tank when doing a roadside check, you could get away with fitting a hidden internal tank (disguise it as a tool chest) and run a seperate fuel line from it to the engine.

Pre HDI engines will run fine on it- it is just paraffin. Not legal on UK roads though but if you buy an old volvo for £300 after a few tanks @ 90p a litre if it gets seized you are not out of pocket.
Chance of getting caught are minimal of course as with red.

It's not just being seized, HMRC charge you the duty they calculate you have avoided plus fine you as well. Personally I cannot see the point as if your vehicle runs on kero it will also run on veg oil which is legal to run on and a bit cheaper too.

Are you sure it was Jet A1. At a local flying club with small piston engined aircraft I would have expected Avgas.

    Jet A1 is a turbine/jet fuel.

  • It's not uncommon for flying clubs to have jet engined crafts these days :)

Or more likely diesel engined piston planes.
Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%

definitely A1, avgas is much more expensive - around £2/litre or more

I guess those rotax engines you can fill with unleaded will become more popular.

Good luck at buying veg at 90p a litre, nearer £1.30.

Tesco £1 per litre sunflower oil in 5 litre bottles, plus £5 off when you spend £40 so 87.5p per litre overall.

Or £18.75 for 20 litres KTC soya from Booker if you don't want to faff about at Tesco - 93.8p per litre.

Personally I mostly use recycled stuff anyway but the Tesco sunflower is nice as a bit of a treat from time to time, as it gives a bit more power IMO.
