sola - you are doing brilliantly! Its spurring me on.
Yestreday was a little bit of a washout as I spent the day shopping with a freinds and drinking coffee - however, I didn't buy anything, so that's positive!!!
My friend also gave me bubble wrap and boxes left over from her move to use for ours, saving us some cash which is great!
Now today I plan to tackle the wardrobes and the spare room. Oh and the book case as wellr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Great suggestion re the bead kits - I'll bear it in mind; we've got all the earring wires, pendant clasps etc. Gotta get DH to agree to get rid of it all first!0

(Hangs head in shame:embarasse ) Not doing any decluttering at all today. I decided to earmark it as a 'leisure day'...........my son bought me some kids paints as a joke so I'm going to do something for his birthday with them..........so in a way I'll be de-cluttering cos once I'm done the box will get thrown out...........lol All is not lost .........is it
Shan;t be able to get to the kitchen table tomorrow as OH is clearing out kitchen cupbooards -so he promised anyway - I'll keep out of the way so we don't argue about keeping or not keeping plates that we never use..........lol Maybe that'll be a good time to get stuck into our bedroom..........he can''t interfere with stuff up there that he'll want to hang on to (jeans beyond their sell by date etc.) so between us we just might make progress.:jMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Shopping took longer than normal so revising the rest of the day:
- put away clean laundry
- do rest of laundry
- do some ironing ready for the week
- put clean bedding on
The cupboard under the stairs and the windows can wait until next weekend.0 -
hi can i join in?
Just wanted to say a BIG thank you...I was reading this thread earlier and realised that it was about time I stopped procrastinating and finally put some stuff on ebay. And guess what? I've actually listed 5 things and photographed more - some of which I then noticed need cleaning or I can see are too tatty to sell.
If they don't sell, than at least I'll know that they're not "too good to throw " out and they can go straight to the charity shop.weaving through the chaos...0 -
Central heating isn't working, so looks like we will have to get a plumber in, so DH has spent all day tidying the garage in case he needs to get to the boiler :j
Also, I sorted loads of paperwork looking for the boiler instructions, so shredded all the old stuff and DH is now burning it
Have also had a good weekend on Ebay with things I had listed, so am feeling really motivated at the momentYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I'd love to join in too
we moved here last summer and most of our belongings are packed still (necessary as we're gutting the house. am definite that nothing is coming back in unless we NEED it. it has to be "a place for everything and everything in it's place" I make and sell jewellery and have lots of craft related materials so need good storage. and i love boxes lol

I've managed a huge fling this last week and hope to continue this week.. though my front garden is full of binbags and empty boxes..
I have
BINNED.. 15 binbags of rubbish.
CHARITY SHOPPED .. 1 binbag (so far!)
COLLECTED.. 1 large carrier of clothing for my stepdad.. hand-me-rounds when you are 60 can't be bad!!
SORTED 3 binbags for ebay and a box of shoes.. hopefully to be listed this week.. hhmmm
FREECYCLED.. 1 moses basket and someone has asked for some prem baby clothes so I'm sorting through those in the morning. I am looking for other stuff to go but I think most of it has gone already!
I now have 17 empty cardboard boxes in my front.. sadly they aren't recyclable here (YET!!) so they'll have to go in the bin.. saving grace is they will compost in the land fill!.. I guess.. and the rats will have nice homes!
I have thrown out probably more volume for volume than came into the house over christmas.. so that is a bonus.
This week I am hoping to 'streamline' my bedroom including the wardrobes and hopefully get through the toys again.. they haven't been seen or played with in 2.5 years so we don't need them do we?
I have some lovely huge storage tubs from wilkos which I am going to plant veggies & herbs in soon.
And I MUST take the doughnut maker back to tesco to swap for a steamer!
Best start on this weeks flinging.. see if I can do better.. the difference is starting to become VERY noticable.. at last!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Pigpen - if the boxes are still useable, then put them on freecycle - there are always people who can use them
Well, my declutter didn't even start last weekas everyone has had the 'orrible lurgi'.
But - I'm feeling a bit more human again now, and by tomorrow the kids will all be back in their respective places of learning, so I have plans.
First target is the front room and toy room (which is basically a box room - nothing posh, just nowhere else to keep them). I would like to be able to see the whole of the front room carpet for the first time this year (I am not buying presents for my lot again - despite it all being stuff they 'wanted', most of it is still where they dumped it on Christmas day! ), and embarrasingly enough, we still have decorations up.
Then I need to hit the hall - I have a boot worth of empty boxes that need to go to a local organic food shop (they use them for their deliveries), and half a dozen boxes that need to go into the garage.
Next step the kitchen and conservatory (glory hole) - this is mostly tidying and sorting rather than clearing, but it's one of those places where a little work looks like a lot.
I think that should keep me busy this weekDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
