Well I bit the bullet yesterday and put up my first few items on Freecycle!!
I had four bottles of Avon body lotion, 28 folic acid tablets and some Nesquik Magic Straws to get rid of and someone is coming round this afternoon for the body lotions and Nesquik!
Saves them cluttering my house if someone else could use them.
One person emailed me and typed in capital letters "PLEASE LET ME HAVE YOUR STUFF, I ALWAYS MISS OUT ON THE GOOD STUFF!". They sounded a bit manic and needy to me so didn't risk it!
Also had one who just assumed they were getting it all and said "I'll have your lotions, what's your address!" Bit too presumptious for me! They finally went to a lady who said her daughter loves Nesquik straws so she sounded quite normal! :rotfl:
Sorry for going on but I was excited about my first Freecycle experience!I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -
I at last managed to get my two last ebay parcels off to the post office yesterday. I felt guilty I hadn't posted them faster.
My 100% ebay feedback has gone down to 99.2% thanks to one neutral post (who I completely refunded). Bit disappointed, as I couldn't see what else I could do
Anyway, other stuff to be getting on with this weekend:
-Offer some more magazines on freecycle
-Take some magazines to GP surgery
-Complete the filing in the office
-Take bags of clothes/shoes to charity shops
-List some more items on turbolister. I have been waiting for a cheap listing day, but they seem a bit sparse lately!
-The books on Green Metropolis aren't shifting (2 out of 49 only have sold). I am thinking I will start taking a small bag of books to charity shops whenever I am passing.
-Clear and flat pack all the now empty packing boxes from the dining room into the loft. I need to start getting on top of the cleaning in the house again.
-Review the shed situation - we have far too many tools which are barely used. Some are old and broken and only good for the tip but my Dad just isn't good at parting with them.
-Try to struggle downstairs with the sofa bed and get it outside for the Council to collect. Am curious to see if I can just roll it down the stairs and rely on gravity to do the rest:D
-Put my OH's models in the loft (he won't part with them and I am too exhausted to argue - they lived for the last 6 years in his other loft!)
I have issued Storecupboard challenges in the freezer, kitchen cupboards, cleaning materials and toiletries departments at home as we have so much stuff that needs to be used up. I have also issue a ban on Mum buying any more freezer contents as the freezer hasn't moved from the "full" level in two weeks!!!
In: New desk and pedestal for OH now he can work from home.
Out: 2 ebay parcels, 6 bags of charity shop, a carrier of books, a carrier of mags, one pack of very old burgers from the freezer, hopefully some rusty old tools (by the end of the weekend).
Mission for next week - a black sack per day out the door. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

*'Oh blow it', she thought, 'money isn't everything', and promptly put the contents of her house on freecycle*
Did just that last night - or may as well have. All those boxes of carboot stuff I've had in the hall for weeks were starting to seriously depress me, so it's all gone on freecycle - with hubby and the kids agreement of course.
Everything has been claimed - just waiting now for people to come and collect it all - yay! - that'll be 10 large boxes, and a few large toys, gone within the next few days :j - feel better already
Kept back a few really good bits to sell to the lady on the market on Tuesday (she's been away the past two week, so couldn't do it sooner), but that's it then.
Now to get the old clothes sorted and do the same there, and I can start all over again on the garage and loftDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

IN: craft bits (can't help myself)
OUT: a whole car full of stuff from the garage, recycled and thrown out
a big bag full of cardmaking magazines - given to a friend
It feels great that the garage is decluttered now and the car fits in again :jump: goal: not to fill it up again.. that will be the hard part0 -
I've not posted here for a bit but finances are forcing me to buck up my ideas and sell some stuff on eBay. I've taken photos of my games I'm selling, started the descriptions and am trying to decide what disclaimers to include. I mean is it best to state up front "Your purchase may arrive in reused packaging. Of course your purchase will still be labelled and wrapped to a high standard to ensure its safe transit but my postage rates are what they are and no refunds will be offered for packaging disputes." Is that too harsh?
Does anyone give a chuff if something turns up in a reused Jiffy bag? I'm not charging the earth for P&P I just don't want comeback for anything that I can neatly explain in the original listing. What other things do I need to explain?0 -
Mogkat - I often re-use packaging. I don't say so on any listings, but I have seen other Ebayers who do, stating that they recycle packaging. I would guess that as long as the address is clear and that the item itself is safe, secure & dry, buyers probably won't mind.
If you are a little bit worried, why not say in the listing that you recycle packaging, then (in theory) they can't complain?0
