Sorry to be posting another depressing post but not long since got off phone with my Mum, apparently my Grandad has leukemia
She wasn't making much sense and said something about it doesn't need treatment. I have no idea sort feel like I am left hanging if that makes sense
It does make sense Beki. Hope you find out more tomorrow. This is on top of your Bells Palsy, so times are tough for you at the moment hunYou are in my prayers :A

The wind and rain have arrived! Anyone else batonning (sp?) down the hatches tonight? Weather forecast looked awful here tonight. Might go down to Portreath tomorrow and take a gander at the sea from Dead Man's Hut. Seen some really stormy sea conditions there in recent years. Camera's in car just in case!Gwrys yn Kernow! :j0

Thanks guys
Not sure how long it's been off, but when I opened it the chicken in top draw was soft. As I got further down the 3 big joints were still quite hard, and also 2 packs of casserole steak. Just took all those to mum and dads freezer, they are away but I had a key.
Got veggies from Mr A and going to cook the rest of the casserole steak, chicken and salmon now, or first thing tomorrow..... then refreeze that as made up casseroles.
I dont think I actually can do much more tonight, cos it's not totally defrosted yet. think i'll grab a few hours and start on it at 6am.
Tiny, thanks for the info re re-freezing, the meat I just put into their freezer isn't rock hard, but it's still sold so i'm risking it. Also took the contents of my fridge round there, it's going to make the diet hard.
Does anyone now if you can walk in somewhere and buy small fridges, one thats small enough for me to be able to lift? I really need to get a little fridge tomorrow?
Sounds like if the joints and casserole meat were still quite hard they will be fine. In my research I found out that some supermarkets defrost meat etc in so called "controlled" conditions and then we take them home and refreeze them. It is just the quality of the meat fibres that deteriorate, so if your meat was still very cold it will have been defrosting in sort of controlled conditions.
We took a risk on some pork chops that had totally defrosted and were soft and some salmon, obvioulsy I did not let mum have those but the rest of us ate them and I did not rush to use them once they were frozen again. But I'm certainly not recommending it, it was just at the time there was nothing else I could do and I could not bring myself to throw any of it away.
I did walk into Iceland years ago and out again with a fridge. The manager carried it to the car for me. Not sure if they still sell electricals as not been in one for a couple of years. I wonder why. :rotfl:0 -

I rang the parts shop this morning and they had the clutch cable in stock, so I took disabled neighbour for some shopping in her car and popped in to get it. When I got back, I went outside with Alan to keep an eye on him as he quickly removed the broken clutch cable and, as it was so simple to do this, he continued and fitted the new oneThe gears slide in so easily now and no nasty grinding when putting into reverse  He did struggle getting the cable through and connected but still did the job in about an hour and a quarter which wasn't bad, and was so pleased with himself for being able to do it. He was tired afterwards so went straight to bed but was up again within an hour and was fine :j :j He says he doesn't feel quite so useless now
Oh, and the District Nurse came at noon and when she removed the dressing there wasn't a mark on it, so she just put the dressing on without any seaweed gauze and will come back on Thursday to check it again. If still clean, she with remove the dressing and just check in with him every 2 weeks or so in future, just to keep an eye on himSo good news there
I will be off to bed very soon so will wish you goodnight now - sleep well friends
Night 3dogs.
Sounds like a very positive day for Alan, he must have felt so good managing to do the clutch cable himself. And hopefully not long now for his dressing to go and he will feel even better. x0 -
Have just looked up from the computer and Mr Tinyshoes is fast asleep one side of me in the arm chair and DD1 is asleep next to me on the sofa. What a pair. :rotfl:I wonder what time they would eventually come to bed if I slipped upstairs myself. Shall I leave them or shall I wake them?0

Hi 3Dogs! I don't often reply personally to your posts, not because I'm not thinking of you and Mr 3Dogs, ( I am, :A ) purely because I can't offer anything constructive.I look for your posts every day and as I have said before you are both an absolute inspiration me. Can recommend prima pasties from St Day after today also!!

Evening/Morning lovelies
I did manage to keep caught up yesterday but I was in serious danger of headbutting the PC screen as I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer to post so thought I'd catch up on all of today's goings on first.
T's wise, rubbish day for me! Nothing in my local as I knew already, had time to kill as I missed my 1st busso had a quick browse anyway. Scanner still broken grrr! As I missed the bus I didn't have the time to do the 2 stores I planned so I could only do 1 and I found 1 lonely battered box of hand decorated hearts :eek:What an absolute waste of an afternoon! Atleast it didn't cost me anything though...well 1p
Had a nice little jaunt around A's carpark tonight and wombled about 10 receipts to go in tomorrow, doing fairly well with them recentlyAll small amounts but every little helps

Borrowed from gladysrocker on the 1p thread
(please thank OP)
'Keep a look out in stores tomorrow for ladies, mens and kids hats, gloves, scarves etc as all the ones that have previously been in the sale are being reduced to 4p and there is still loads of stock hanging about. Once the staff realise its scanning at 4p they'll take it off sale and dispose of it!!'
Off to bed now, sleep tight allx

Please forgive this post as I am a newbie, hopefully have not broken any ettiquette, still figuring this out. I confess to being a lurker for nearly a week now but I just wanted to post to say a big thank you to you all for being such an inspiration, and for making me cry and laugh out loud on more than one occasion tonight. What a great bunch you all are.
The knitted monkey was hilarious! makes me laugh just thinking about it - Thank you really needed a laugh!
Guess that I should introduce myself. I have always been a bit of a bargain hunter but not in the same league as you all. My freezers are full of RTC items. (or whoopises?) It started when I was a student and the days waiting on my grant cheque, (yes I am old) whilst the other students ate nothing but beans I always managed to put together a full meal although sometimes had to be inventive. I think that my first boyfriend fell for my cooking rather than me!
More recently I have had to return to more serious saving. In 2010 dh and I lost our Mums. It was an awful year, in Feb my MIL died suddenly whilst having treatment for breast cancer and then in Dec I lost Mum. I was so close to my mum , saw her everyday and there is not a day goes by when I do not wish for just one more day with her. I could not cope for months and spent the first part of the year (2011) off work and having treatment for depression. Still not right but then I dont think that you ever do get over this do you?
I went back to work early summer on reduced hours and we set about rebuilding our lives. In an attempt to have something to focus on we planned for an extension. We had some savings and some money that our Mums had left us. It seemed right that we should spend it on the house and try to make a nice home for our daughter.
We took on a builder, we thought we did all the right things, got quotes, followed up references but still got conned and we are now left with a partly finished house and every day we discover yet another job that he bodged that we have to spend on to put right and are now so deep in debt. To top it all the company that we bought the kitchen worktops off, went bust before we got delivery and as we had not paid by credit card we can't claim it back and have no chance of getting anything from the administrators. (Hard lesson learnt there) Now have half a kitchen and a crazy assortment of bits of worktops. At least it is different. Have since found out that they have now set up another company under a different name -how can they get away with this? Have written about them on every review site that I can find so that others do not have the same problem.
There have certainly been some low times but I also have not forgotten how lucky I am, I have a beautiful daughter and loving hubbie and some good friends. It could be much worse and I am in awe of the many people (including many on this forum) that are so strong and stand up to what life chucks at them. I salute you all.
So to my recent bargains.
At the weekend I encouraged my daughter to womble with me, didnt get as many funny looks as it looked like a game, dd was happy to do so as we are saving for Merlin cards if we can ! Her first find was a £67 receipt, sadly no JTD but 67 CC points ! woo hoo. Saturday's tea was multi buy whoopsie BBQ meats - dh did not believe that it would still do the multi buy. So chuffed.
Tonight I visted a couple of Tesco' extras near work, no Simply add but quite a few good whoopsies. This city gent next to me looked down his nose at my basket as he queued to buy his Rose champagne, I didnt mind though as he dropped his receipt just where I was bending down to pick up my shopping! another 41 cc points. Picked it up as quick as lighting - just to keep the shop tidy of course. Dont think that the SA noticed, but risky I know.
Do you have to go back to the same shop to get the points added?
Oh and got a £7 wys £50 till spit.
Then on the way home my train was stuck outside the station whilst the police had to be called to an incident on the train in front. The rest of the commuters huffed and puffed but I counted the minutes. If it is delayed over 30 mins on our trains you can claim your fare back. So will be doing that tomorrow. the delay gave me time to work out my shop using the price flop leaflet. Will have to sort the freezers out again for all the new stuff especially if I am to make use of the till spit as well.
Sorry for the very long post, hope that I have not bored you too much, look forward to the time when I can repay you all and find a great glitch or bargain to share. When I grow old, I dont want people thinking "what a sweet old lady" I want them to think
"oh carp what is she up to now!"0
