Want to say thinking of both Elsie1969 and Chelsea girl and your mums. I was in the same position as you both about 5 years ago and my mum is still with us after several bouts of radiotherapy, major spinal surgery (3 months rehab in hospital) and 2 different cancer drugs and now back to the one she was on before her secondary cancer was diagnosed. Also several long stays in hospital. We both have had to learn to live with her cancer there have been times when this has been very hard but it amazes me how good her quality of life has been at times.
She has amazing support from all the health professionals and I hope both of your mums do too.
My mum is having another of many CT scans tomorrow but it has just become part of life now. Some good new today though she has agreed to visit the day hopsice to see if she would like to try it. Will give me a break from cooking her a meal one day a week, it is not a long term thing but will be good for her to have some different company. I can be quite bad company at times.Hopefully it will give her something to focus on.
Hoping your mum is a bit better today Jumblejack very sorry to hear your news yesterday. But as everyone said it is quite common, sadly saw a few ladies on mum's rehab ward go through it but happily it was not long term and one lady that sticks in my mind did just have a urinary infection which once antibiotics were started was as right as rain within 24 hours but very frightening for her daughters and my mum was in tears for them all. I hope it has been a better day for you both. x0 -

where have they hidden the fresh meat reductions, they have moved.:beer:Gwrys yn Kernow! :j0 -
Did my first Asda womble this afternoon in a very disappointingly clean carpark ... 4 receipts = 2 too short + 1 too young + 1 that produced a 53p voucher! :T
Looking forward to seeing what the 'too young' receipt produces tomorrow0 -
Sorry to be posting another depressing post but not long since got off phone with my Mum, apparently my Grandad has leukemia
She wasn't making much sense and said something about it doesn't need treatment. I have no idea sort feel like I am left hanging if that makes sense
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0 -

Well my exploits today were a bit mixed. Was itching to get to Ts when the 1p bits started to get reported but Mr Tinyshoes was washing the car so had to wait. :rotfl:
First store I knew I had seen the heart nets but dissapointed when I got there as they were mothers day ones.Knew the finest hearts in a row were a no go as the store had stuck 25p yellow labels on them when they were still scanning 50p in preparation for their final reduction. No heart throbs as I had bought the last 2 packets on friday for 12p a bag, if only I had waited. :rotfl:
2nd store, still had the Simply Add chilli & Tandoori but still have not used the 2 pots I hid in mum's fridge. Better luck upstairs there with the homeware clearance sections being restocked. Managed to get a knife block with the bright coloured knives for £5.50 for DD2, she has DD1s old Asda value set at the moment so I'm pleased with that.
See Dodo reported the Disney fleeces for £1.75 and Babushka duvet sets £7.xx, they also had a set called peacock single £4.xx and double £5.xx, a nice purple satin front to it quite a few there. Lots of Pyrex wave and Go cook ceramics most were 75% off. Few other bits too. Worth a look as none of these things were on the shelves last week when I went with Debsjc.
Downstairs in the clearance section I found :-
Finest Rogan josh curry sauce 39p
Finest Red Thai curry sauce 41p
Barts green thai curry paste 43p
La Tasca Pimienta sauce 47p
Sweet and sour stir fry sauce sachet 24p
There was plenty of all of them excpet the sachet, I only found one of those.
Last store no 1p finds, but hit it right for 90% off fruit so got a healthier haul of apples, raspberries, cherries, strawberries and bananas. :T
And a big thanks to the OP, not sure where I read it but in Sainsburys I got 3 Maybelline Dream Matte Powders, shade Rose Nude for £3. There was no SEL but they scanned at £1.50 each and were on 342. :j
So a good finish to the day after all.0 -

I noticed they had moved them in one of my stores today, I was lucky though just had to turn around and they were on the opposite side of the aisle. I wonder if the regular whoopsiers will have noticed in time.0 -
Oh no.
We have had this happen couple of times when the girls were little, they turned it off and more recently one of them did not shut the door properly. Is there still any ice in the freezer and is everything still cold? We were too tied up to do anything about it last time it happened and just refroze everything and ate it all over the next few months with no ill effects whatsoever and everything was whoopsied so on it's sell by date when it first went in too. The only thing that was a slight problem is some of the meat was a bit dry after defrosting. I know we did take a chance though on just refreezing it but a bit of research on the internet did show it is not such a bad thing to do as long as the meat has not had chance to warm and is still chilled.
When it has happened previously we have frozen roasted joints if we have had leftovers and they are fine. Would just recommend slicing it before freezing. Sorry can't help on the slow cooker front as we don't have one. Hope you can rescue most of the contents.zippydooda wrote: »if its been broke less than 8hrs and not opened it will all be fine
Thanks guys
Not sure how long it's been off, but when I opened it the chicken in top draw was soft. As I got further down the 3 big joints were still quite hard, and also 2 packs of casserole steak. Just took all those to mum and dads freezer, they are away but I had a key.
Got veggies from Mr A and going to cook the rest of the casserole steak, chicken and salmon now, or first thing tomorrow..... then refreeze that as made up casseroles.
I dont think I actually can do much more tonight, cos it's not totally defrosted yet. think i'll grab a few hours and start on it at 6am.
Tiny, thanks for the info re re-freezing, the meat I just put into their freezer isn't rock hard, but it's still sold so i'm risking it. Also took the contents of my fridge round there, it's going to make the diet hard.
Does anyone now if you can walk in somewhere and buy small fridges, one thats small enough for me to be able to lift? I really need to get a little fridge tomorrow?0 -

Been to see FIL a few times over the weekend, a bit of a shock to the system to be honest with you - he has always been a very slight man, but now it looks as if he is a mini michelin man - i presume its all the steroids etc he is on, but fairplay to him he is still with us and fighting the Big "C" with all his might - does it sound awful but i really wish he would go to sleep and not wake up, he is now in a lot of pain and it was awful to hear him cry out, i have arranged to see his doctor tomorrow to see if they will up his morphine levels as it is just so horrible not just for us but him also big time. DH is coping a lot better than i thought he would and is now resigned to the fact he will lose his
Dad - he has only broken down once this weekend, his Dad told him to go away as he said he wanted to be alone when he dies:eek::eek:, which really hurt him.
Big hugs to those that need them - FloFlo and 3Dogs and Mr 3Dogs and anyone else - really sorry haven't been able to read back everything i have missed over the three days. You are in my prayers hun :A
I rang the parts shop this morning and they had the clutch cable in stock, so I took disabled neighbour for some shopping in her car and popped in to get it. When I got back, I went outside with Alan to keep an eye on him as he quickly removed the broken clutch cable and, as it was so simple to do this, he continued and fitted the new oneThe gears slide in so easily now and no nasty grinding when putting into reverse  He did struggle getting the cable through and connected but still did the job in about an hour and a quarter which wasn't bad, and was so pleased with himself for being able to do it. He was tired afterwards so went straight to bed but was up again within an hour and was fine :j :j He says he doesn't feel quite so useless now
Oh, and the District Nurse came at noon and when she removed the dressing there wasn't a mark on it, so she just put the dressing on without any seaweed gauze and will come back on Thursday to check it again. If still clean, she with remove the dressing and just check in with him every 2 weeks or so in future, just to keep an eye on himSo good news there
I will be off to bed very soon so will wish you goodnight now - sleep well friendsMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
