Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Xmas Saver!
    edited 15 April 2012 at 10:44PM
    Hi all,
been awol for the past 24/48 hrs due to dealing with family problems, needless to say the first thing I'll be doing at 9 am tomorrow morning will be ringing housing people to see if they've cleared the house out for me to get in and decorate.
Spent most of last night sleeping after trying to make my lists of things I really NEED to buy - like a matress for the new bed I've bought.
My appendix is playing up again so back on strong antibiotics and pain meds which also mean back to sleeping a lot :(

Just used my white goodie bag i got my ssm things in and filled it with freeebies like comfort flash, flash wipes, fairy, dettol touch system and refil and labelled it a cleaning hamper for a raffle prize for my sons football,i did one at xmas filling it with shreddies, sensations, soup, spam, toothpaste and some other freebies and raised 25.00 so" EVERY LITTLE HELPS".

Thank you so much mgamble for this idea as everyone knows I'm trying to raise funds for our summer scheme so will have to see what I can put into a bag to raffle off, I think I MAY have some cleaning goodies I could spare :rotfl:

Can I ask you clever peeps if any of your family members undergoing ops developed delirium afterwards?
My mum has gotten progressively worse since Wednesday.
She is extremely paranoid, is trying to leave all the time, refusing help, imagining and seeing things. It's so upsetting for Dad :(
I just don't want it to be a permanent state of mind :(

A no spend day for me again :)
Leftover sausage casserole for us n dad.

Gotta MOT the car tomorrow so just hope it's not going to sting!

Let's hope the new week brings a new glitch...

Hi JJ...sorry to hear about your mum. :(

How has your mum's sleep been since the op? Any changes?

Does your mum know who she is, where she is, the time and date etc.? Is she confused?

Has she got/had a raised temperature? Or looks unwell in any other way?

yes, both my Mum and dad had it after OPs,

My Dad after a hip replacement, imagining stuff, holding on to the bed as if it were going to topple over and trying get out of bed,
and again to my Mum after a knee replacement, asking if she was going to die, it wore off for both after a week,it must be the drugs...extremely distressing for us and them:eek:

    Is she still in hospital?

Couldbe that she has an infection or it could be lack of oxygen.

Make sure that you are really clear with all the nursing staff and doctors are aware that she is not normally like this and you can see her getting worse.

My mum was delirious when she had a blood infection and when she had a lack of oxygen in her blood. Very similar to what you describe, she became very paranoid, didn't understand where she was and was hallucinating. Nursing staff and doctors seem to just assume that this is how some patients are particularly if they are slightly elderly without checking with family. I had to constantly tell nurses and doctors that my mum had never been like this before being admitted to hospital.

My heart goes out to you it is very difficult to deal with this when it is your family.

Make sure they run tests for infection or lack of oxygen.

    Best wishes. xx

Today when I was there, they put another IV tap in her arm to administer antibiotics 'just in case'. She also was having a chest X-ray actually on her bed in the ward (I didn't know they could do that) when I left. The ward visitors had to step outside but the patients were still in the room?!

I can only think they are trying to eliminate infections as a cause for her mental condition.

She is supposed to be using an oxygen mask as they have detected that she is having difficulties breathing and also picked up on in irregular heartbeat. She won't wear it though as she thinks she is being gassed. She is also refusing to drink the water in case they've drugged it. :( We wondered ourselves if this was contributing to her state.

She is frequently convinced that she is at home and only has brief moments of awareness.

The poor staff are having a real hard time with her. Mum has said that she has struck one of them today but this wasn't confirmed.

I thought she had onset dementia but googling the symptoms led me to the conclusion that is is post op delirium.

How long was your mum affected?

i did A LOT of research into this. I wanted a new one with a warranty, and could get it either from Apple directly or carphone warehouse.

    I phone 4 was £429, and 4S £499.

CPW are unlocked until you put a SIM into them, and then the will lock to the network of the SIM

I ended up buying mine direct from Apple. The were fab and went through everything with me, showing me how to use it, trying to transfer my numbers from my old phone to my new one, how to use the app store, the lot. You'd need to allow about an hour :)

I looked everywhere for discount but couldnt find any anywhere. I could have got cashback from quidco if i'd bought online but if i was going to spend £500 i wanted it in my hands there and then!
