    Morning all :)
Its another sunny but cold day in this part of South Wales, have just caught up again from yesterday
I hope things get better soon for all those who are having a rough time lately and hope it stays good for all of you having a better time of it :)
I have just got off the phone to Virgin (the broadband people not a celibate friend!) and have managed to lower my bill by £2.50 :D (still £2.50 more than I was paying last month though :( ) and they are sending me a new superhub thingy next week and I was wondering if any of you bright people would know if this means I would have a new i.p address? I was hoping that I would be able to get more coupons that I have already hit the limit with ...I dont really understand these things

(just had to look up the word "these" as I wrote it and it just doesn't look right at all to me ...weird!!! lol )

I would stick with the old modem if you can. We just moved house and set up a new account with them. When installing we got the new super hub - it's terrible. You can only have it stood up as the cables stick out the side, it about 3 times bigger and you can't take the base off it. The worst thing about it is the very loud, high pitched noise it gives off. Virgin say it's interference or can be solved by using a different socket. We had it on when the room was empty and it still did it and there is no other socket to try. The noise seems to be a common problem. We keep turning it off when watching tv as it is distracting and gives me a terrible headache. I want our old one back.

    Morning peeps,

Had a lovely weekend away in Oulton Broad. Managed to lurk on my phone a few times and was very inspired by everyones success at SW :T:T:T so went out and joined yesterday. Took my 16 year old DD with me as she's feeling down about her weight and wants to lose a stone although I think she's perfect just the way she is. Don't know what target weight to set as 6 stone seems like a huge mountain to climb! Am thinking the mushy pea shelf is going to be empty with us all trying the curry.

Off to read back over the last few days...boy you lot can talk:D

if it wasnt so frustrating for you and the others who have to do this, then it would be laughable....maybe they're all ex-Ts staff, hence their inconsistency, lack of training and unique ability to make up the rules as they go along :rotfl::rotfl:

Absolutely spot on. Since I posted earlier, I have tried to submit my EOY's but the service is 'busy'. So I am sitting here repeatedly choosing 'online submission', inputting my user ID and password for it to come back 'busy' try again, and do it all over again! Mind numbing! I can think of better things to do with my time.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

grr! really! unfortunately as stupid as it sounds the only way I could get a reduced price was to upgrade it! fortunately for me I cant hear high pitch noises or low pitch noises for that matter but unfortunately I will be able to hear my husband moaning about high pitch noises;):rotfl:
I have got 50 metres of cable that i picked up a while ago from screwfix for a couple of quid,if it gets too troublesome I'll try running it (with an extention lead) up in the attic. Is that something that maybe you could try?

Edit - I have just checked screwfix it seems I got a good deal as 25m satellite coaxial cable is now £7.92 plus vat

Edit - I have just looked around on the internet and it is indeed a common
problem, lots of people are saying that its the powerpack thingy that makes the noise http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Fibre-optic-broadband-cable/Virgin-Media-Superhub-PSU-High-Pitched-Noise/td-p/380087/page/4

in the thread it also says
    Hi All,

If you have ANY issues with a power supply making noise etc. Please turn equipment off and contact us so that we can get this replaced for you as soon as possible.
    Kind Regards,

    Ben

We had exactly the same problem at work about a year ago with them saying we hadn't submitted a CIS return on time, even though we sent them a copy of our email submission with the appeal letter. I think they just send out standard letters in response to your appeal and hope they wear you down in the end and pay the fine. It took us several months and phone calls to sort it out.

I tend to agree but what is infuriating is that most of my letters were sent by the same two people! I ended up sending copies of their own letters to each other! At one point, I had Mr A telling me that it had been set aside and then two weeks later a letter from Mr B would arrive fining me another £100 because the original fine and subsequent months' fines were overdue! It would be laughable if it wasn't the taxpayers' money paying their wages. I was also horrified that when I queried their phrase about 'responding within fourteen days', when I'd only just received their letter(s) dated nearly two weeks earlier, that they said that they wrote the letters but they don't get sent out the same day - it was usually the following week at the earliest. I now keep their postmarked envelopes along with their letters.

Looks as though we are on course for our very own 11+ IR:mad:Club!
