Thanks to everyone for their good wishes. It means a lot:)

Just a thought, where do you buy nicotine patches from and how much are they?
Mum HAS to stop smoking if her hip is to mend and I imagine her cravings will be driving her to distraction today. The hospital have said that they can sort her out with something but I wouldn't mind a plan b as staff are too busy to do everything. If they haven't addressed it yet, I'd like to alleviate her cravings a little.

    Cheers guys.
    X

As far as I'm aware, any chemist sells the patches and I've occasionally seen them advertised on offer at Mr T and Mr A. Sorry I can't be more help but I'm sure someone on here will be able to advise of some fantastic offers on them.

I tried them several years ago (the doctor gave them on prescription). I found they worked until I got stressed at work and then I didn't have the willpower not to have a crafty ciggy. I ended up wearing the patches and smoking at the same time, which isn't good as you're getting a double dose of nicotine.

That's how I quit, it says on the patches leaflet that you can smoke at the same time as the patches but not to overdose.
I cut down from 20 to 5 in a day then over a week or 2 went to 0.
I doubt i would have just been able to stop just with patches.

Edit: There are half price offers on the patches in a few places,

T's - half price niquitin patches ( only 2 out of 3 strengths)
Co-op pharmacy - All Niquitin bogof

Did you guys see ' our ' Martin on Daybreak TV this morning .

I was watching BBC News and they had Nick Clegg on there explaining what to do about the utility suppliers and getting the bills cheaper , he wanted the utility companies to explain to customers that there is another tarrif that might work out cheaper , as if they would ... .
..I turned over to ITV where 'our ' Martin was talking about the same subject , the only difference was that Martin was talking sense ...
he tried to get it over that it's up to us to do the work in changing and moving providers to save money while Clegg wanted the money making and raking companies to throw away their profits in order to keep us satisfied .

If t came down to a vote on any type of sense 'our' Martin would get mine .
At least he is a realist and has his finger on the pulse of the ordinary man/woman .

Absolutely spot on. Since I posted earlier, I have tried to submit my EOY's but the service is 'busy'. So I am sitting here repeatedly choosing 'online submission', inputting my user ID and password for it to come back 'busy' try again, and do it all over again! Mind numbing! I can think of better things to do with my time.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

The HMRC website is being updated and wont be working properly till the 14th April I think, have loads of EOY's to submit at work but waiting till then. HTH and totatl carp timing by HMRC

only to find on going to e.mail to print vouchers they have dissappeared! :( think some (horrible!) someone was randomly lucky and pinched them then deleted e.mail maybe? :(

now have to think of some other 'surprise' for little ones as promised them a nice surprise. :(

I would normally of of printed them straight away but printer wasn't working. :(

oh well if it hadn't of been for the kindness of .... (don't want to get anyone in trouble ;) ) I wouldn't have had them anyway.
got to love this thread and the lovely peeps on here. :)

Morning all, does anyone know if value tomato ketchup is any good just noticed that they have put it in a plastic squeezy container instead of the glass bottle and it's still only 21p. Heinz is £1.75 for a similar size

Another thought JJ re your mum stopping smoking - I recall peeps talking on here about a week ago re Allen Carr's stopping smoking book and saying how well they were doing. I don't know if this will help her at the moment as someone said you were allowed to read the book and smoke at the same time and this won't be allowed in hospital. If she enjoys reading and crosswords, take her lots of magazines and books into hospital as they will help pass the time and take her mind of the craving.
