    Good morning fellow MFWs :-)

GYO strawberries for breakfast, yummy :-) Also had a few raspberries and gooseberries from the plants (bought last year, planted in the ground this year). I have a tiny red flower in one of my runner bean plants! Some of the tomato plants have recovered and have yellow flowers, but the chilli plants have not grown since their first 3 or 4 leaves.

The last of DS2's exams is on Monday. Hip Hip Hurray for the upcoming holidays :-) On the MFW front, have shuffled the money across accounts to ensure Halifa@x reward. I am planning to move one of my current accounts to M@S to get the joiner award of £100. Other news: Opened a S&S ISA and have been allocated a few shares from the TSB IPO.

This month has been a spendy month so far, having had to buy a few flight tickets for holidays/vacation. Had to pay using debit card as otherwise, would have had to pay about £50 extra for paying with CC. Another £500 towards OP. At this rate, it will be quite long before our mortgages are cleared.

    Courgette glut has started :-)

  • Unexpected car-related expenses this week  Our old and trusty car had to be written off as it needed a complete engine replacement (the garage estimates that a new engine will cost more than the car's value), so an interim purchase was made with the money earmarked for mortgage OP :(

On the GYO front, we have plentiful peas, runner beans and courgettes :-) and the fruit trees are laden with fruits despite the June drop, just have to wait for the apples, pears and plums to ripen. Have had a good harvest of Morello cherries :)

Have a good weekend, everyone :)

  • Plodding along with the mortgages with small OPs :-) Now that we have found a tenant for the BTL property after a long period of it being vacant, the repayment should gather momentum. Nothing much to report other than a slight appreciation in value of my S&S ISA portfolio :j.

Courgette glut is showing signs of abatement (not many flowers now) after I left them to grow into marrows. Lots of runner beans and raspberries though.

Have a good day everyone :)

I have been given a big bag of greengages by a friend, eaten a few for my lunch, they are really yummy. I now want to get a greengage tree to plant in my garden :) The BH weekend was a spendy one, in spite of being rained in, ordered a few grapevines as T@M were having a postage free weekend and I had a voucher for £10 off. Also made an order with clearancexl, I won't need to buy any casserole mixes for the next few years at this rate.

Have a good week ahead, fellow MFWs :)

  • Yippee, my pay has been credited into my bank account, money shuffle done (copying GG's words here), a bit of money earmarked for OP, bargainous YS shopping done - so not going supermarkets the whole of next week. I bought a few packs of these, which are on BOGOF so that I could use a voucher which MrS kindly send us. The best bit is that some T stores have started accepting competitor spend-and-save coupons :-)

This week DS1 got his first pay packet. This is his very first job. He is over the moon and has earmarked this month's savings as a gift for his grandparents, not that they need any! - really proud of him :-)
