Just to update this a bit guys. Ive had the obligatory letters from APCOA asking for money which I have duly ignored.
However this morning I received a letter from an actual debt collector. Is this still to be ignored? I know what a pain they can be. I didnt think this would go to debt collectors....

The debt collector's letter is all part of the scam. (The debt collector will just be an apcoa alias). Read the apcoa letter chain in the letter chain thread in the parking ticket forum.

Only take any notice if you get a court summons. If you do, then come back here or go to pepipoo for advice.

    Otherwise carry on ignoring.

Yup, its all part of the scam - more often than not, the so-called "debt collector" is just another part of the PPC operation, or a bunch of "specialist" toerags who just send out scary letters for various PPCs.

As a matter of interest, which collector? If you don't want to say, the chances are that you will find them well-referenced in the parking forum. :)

your original ticket was issued well before POFA, so there is no chance of that applying or being used against you - Ignoring is still the best bet. :)

    Thanks :money:

I wish I had known all this years ago, got myself in a really bad place with depression and anxiety attacks over mounting debt collector threats (some were Roxburghe I think) about 8 years ago when I was a student, they too were parking tickets but I thought I was going to court/jail and that my credit rating was ruined for ever. I actually seriously considered declaring myself bankrupt. :(
