MBNA have always been notoriously difficult to deal with both before and after the judicial review.
What is a 'claim over the internet'?
What is a non-advised claim?
Which banks have been saying it's as simple as 'printing off a template letter and sending off with a stamp'?0 -
very good points ! luckily financially im not in a bad position, but for me its been about the level of service and the total disregard for FSA guidlines. Im willing to take it as far I need to go, be it county court. I want an apology and the money back i have paid in.0

I had the same letter about online application and eletronic signatures I dont think so!! they sent me application form for me and hubbie to sign not electronic like they said also on the form they had in small print about strongly recommend the cover just tick the box so a letter to fos (i did phone them before hand asking them if i should still complain) they sent out forms for me to fill in, so just waiting now0

yes unfortunately mbna are rejecting a lot of online claims, and the template wont win you those claims, you need to go to fos now but you need to know what you are doing otherwise you wont win again, tread carefully its an important claim and you dont want to get it wrong, good luck0

Hello, I've just received my rejection letter from MBNA citing "non-advised sale". Having done a bit of internet research, I have referred this to the FOS and they are sending me a complaint form.
My claim goes back to 1997, so my application was made over the phone. The wording of the letter is interesting in that they say when I opted for payment protection cover: "we did not offer advice about the policy, we provided you with information only" and "we are satisfied that you had sufficient information to make your own evaluation about the product on offer."
As it was 1997 I don't recall the conversation and I don't know if MBNA archive their calls that far back. But I imagine I was told about PPI in terms of using it in the the event of sickness, unemployment, etc. So isn't that actually advice???
Has anybody had any similar experiences dealing with MBNA on non-online applications?0 -
anyone have problems getting info on old accounts? phoned tonight and my partner was asked loads of questions like what method of payment did you use to pay your statements off and what card from what account.. did you take out ppi when you opened the card? my partner said he cant remember all the details of the account because it was a while back surely they had his details on screen but he wouldnt tell him anythin. do they have to tell you info or are they not obliged to give you them?0

Even if they had/did record the call, they wouldnt bother looking for it when they wrote the letter to you.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

So what would MBNA have actually done to reach their decision? Or is it a case of them hoping I will just walk away?
cheers.
Not sure, they would struggle to find account notes going that far back with their "filing system"
Possibly hope that you will walk away. Alternatively, they could have flipped a two headed coin. :rotfl:No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
